New to your group! I am full of Healthy information!
Check out this report I received today, pretty shocking and concerning about out produce!!
If the economy isn't grim enough for you, just check out the February issue of the Journal of HortScience, which contains a report on the sorry state of American fruits and veggies. Apparently produce in the U.S. not only tastes worse than it did in your grandparents' days, it also contains fewer nutrients - at least according to Donald R. Davis, a former research associate with the Biochemical Institute at the University of Texas, Austin. Davis claims the average vegetable found in today's supermarket is anywhere from 5% to 40% lower in minerals (including magnesium, iron, calcium and zinc) than those harvested just 50 years ago.
To read the whole report from Yahoo news go here:
We need to eat more fruits & vegetables daily, but they are right in saying: "They just don't taste that great". I can't consume all of the servings we are now suppose to eat daily, cause I would be eating all day! The expense is outrageous as well, not to mention the time!!

I was introduced to an additional source right before I started on Chemo treatments to help me survive. You really don't want to eat then, much less fruits & vegetables. It was and still is my insurance policy that I maintain my health. Believe me, you don't want to go through what I was forced to go through. I now am on a mission to try to educate and share everything I learned to keep anyone from going through that poision . I started taking "Juice Plus+", and it saved my life. The whole live food that is in the product, gives you more than you could ever find, afford, or eat in a day. I have learned that the body CAN heal itself if given the proper nutrients. We can't get them today!!
Also not to mention the pesticides we eat on them.
Learn more about "Juice Plus+" here on this site, it explains it way better than I can. Juice
Plus+
To your Health!! Remember, it is way cheaper to keep yourself healthy, than it is to try to get it back!! Take it from someone who is still drowning in hospital bills!!

What do you consider heart healthy nutrition, as there are several perspectives?

Thanks!

Quick question - I saw somewhere that March is National Nutrition Month. Is there anyone here who has a blog entry on Heart Healthy Nutrition who would like to do a guest entry on my CPR blog?

Hi all. This was a great day. Unscripted due to a debate over raw milk and some great Q&A.

Hi. I have posted my notes from day 2 of the Real Rood Real Medicine conference: www.movingstronglyforward.typepad.com. Sally Fallon and Joel Salatin are amazing people! This conference has exceeded the education of six years of college and two degrees! Shows how overrated some degrees are, eh?

Be sure to check out Sally's powerpoint.

Enjoy!

Hello...glad I found this group. I am a health writer and advocate for preventive medicine. What makes me very sad is that many of the illness and disease we face as we age are preventable if we just would be willing to make some small lifestyle changes over time. To me it is not about what I can't have or do but what I can that will improve my health and the health of those I love. I hope to share and learn much here.

Hello Everyone,

Like many of you I am a Health and Wellness Evangelist who gets to see the miracles of self-care work for people everyday! I also get to see the negative effects that happen when self-care is not a priority.

I have a health blog where I write a little about several different aspects of health. I also like to share techniques that can be done in 10 minutes or less. As a health psychologist, working mom, writer, and consultant, I find it easy to put my own health on the back burner sometimes--kinda ironic right? I started this blog as a personal reminder to keep self-care a priority.

My blog is BeHealthRich.com and send me a Tweet at http://www.twitter.com/RichHealth

Please stop by and share your comments. I’d love to talk to you!

Hi everyone. I am new to the group and excited to find you and learn from you. I am a mom on a long journey back to good health using nutrition. After my son was born, I was wasted...watching him full-time, working full-time, and helping my husband in his business. Thanks to the guidance of a great Dr. of Oriental Medicine and eating nutrient dense food, I am about 80% back to my old self. Thank goodness the body has a great capacity to heal!

Foods that have seriously helped me are kefir, sauerkraut and bone broth. I love to learn about how nutrient dense food promotes healing. Sally Fallon (Nourishing Traditions) and Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride (GAPS) are my biggest influences. My family's healing journey has been incredibly fun, with the most recent thing to crack us up being that my husband cured a skin rash by applying kefir. We have also had a couple of one day colds thanks to the double orange kefir smoothie. We are crazy about kefir.

I have a blog that contains videos showing how to make kefir, bone broth, and sauerkraut, as well as discussing my family's journey. Soon I will be adding a shot of my almost 6 year old drinking his Cod Liver Oil, as I know there are parents whose children struggle with this. On Friday my husband and I are going to start blogging about our perspectives when my health began to decline and then come back, in hopes of helping other couples who struggle with the same thing. Please go to www.movingstronglyforward.typepad.com if you would like to learn more.

I look forward to learning from you!
