November

November is American Diabetes Month. At the request of our group member, Penny, Moms for a Cause will dedicate November to raise awareness for diabetes. Thanks Penny! I myself have Type 2 Disbetes and I am still learning.

I am looking for sites and blogs that will help educate, as well as offer links to products for sale. As I build the list, I will post them here.

Group Project:

Do you or a family member have / had diabetes? Share your story this month on your blog and then share with Twitter Moms by coming back here and posting the link. If you don't have or no one in your family has diabetes, you can still help raise awareness. Go to http://www.diabetes.org/home.jsp and read the statistics on Dibetes. Your write-up can be informational, helping others to see there is still so much more that can be done to Kiss Diabetes Goodbye!

Here is our November Discussion for Diabetes link. This is for discussion, support, and more! Please add your post links here as well as email to me. Thanks!

I'd like to invite everyone to check out The Mothers Institute. We are a non-profit educational organization which encourages independent outside-the-box thinking when it comes to raising and educating our children. We have started the Hazel Jones Memorial Homeschooling Scholarship Program (in honor of my mother) and are working to build a network of like-minded volunteers across the country via our Mothers for Liberty Meetup Groups. To see if our causes and efforts are of interest to you and your family, hope you'll visit us at: www.themothersinstitute.org

My four-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes this spring while still just 3. I have begun writing about it as it is a part of every minute of every day of our lives now. Here is the link:

Diabetes month is not that publicized, i guess, so there not so many ways to support this cause as there were for Breast Cancer Awareness ..

But you can always find ways to help!

For example,
has a couple of Diabetes non-profits that you can support shopping online. There, you can go to Cause Search: http://www.we-care.com/CauseSearch Search for Diabetes, select a cause, and when you click through the site to shop, a percentage of your purchase is automatically donated...

the great thing about this site is that you can use it for your everyday shopping (over 700 stores are there, and you can get coupon codes and discounts), and you donate a portion without spending any extra money .. it's nice when you don't really have a lot of extra money to spend, but truly care for a cause.

All the proceeds go to FeedingAmerica.org.

November is Diabetes Awareness Month. Hard to find any great sites like we could for Breast Cancer Awareness. Thoughts on this?
Jessica @ Mom Fuse Comment by Jessica @ Mom Fuse on October 23, 2008 at 3:05pm
Hi Everyone! So glad I found this group! I own MomFuse and all the proceeds from advertising goes directly to different children's charities.. the rest goes to hosting, etc. Look forward to meeting everyone!

We love this group. We are partnered with great causes on our site and it is children who raise money for these charities!!! We look forward to the dialogue and exchange of ideas here...
Please check us out and tell us your thoughts...
