Hi Twittermoms who heart the arts! Just wanted to say hi, new to the group. I've got two lovely daughters and a blog. I write about theatre, Broadway as well as kids in the performing arts -- all from a mom's perspective. Stop by! http://www.stage-mama.com. I'm looking forward to contributing to this group.

Good Afternoon, Ladies!

Just coming by to see how everyone is doing? Do any of you oil paint? If so, can you tell me where I can get top quality paints? I am getting back into it and it's been a while. I love painting for its sincere ability to excite me while the stress of life rolls away. Savvy

Hi everyone.
I wanted to introduce myself! I am a musician (cellist, guitar, songwriter, fiddle) educator and certified life coach. I love that there is this site to bounce ideas and discussions!
I have 3 kids and music is huge in our house. My oldest 2 (12 and 10) have become part of our family band, along with my niece and I. We play old time fiddle/bluegrass/folk for a resort here in the mountains of Montana. I found that just incorporating my kids into my hobby was the best way to continue my creative life and share in some great fun!

I also work for a non-profit music group that provides music to children with disabilities in public schools. It is my heart work and very rewarding.

Looking forward to meeting many of you!

We also need to remember that childhood is fleeting. You can't get back that time with your kids. I just couldn't do community theater while my kids were little. I worked all day and they were in daycare. I could not in good conscience then leave them with a babysitter. So, I just kept reading, immersed myself in my kids' activities and once they were old enough, went back to theater as if I had never left. EXCEPT, I had always been an actor. When I came back, I discovered my new love, directing...maybe it wouldn't have happened had I not taken the break. So, feeding ourselves is good, but sometimes that means finding alternate feeding sources.

I think it's soooo important to keep feeding ourselves in whatever season in life we find ourselves. I remember when we lived in Kenya and my girls were toddlers, I was required to attend the East African Women's Association which ran their pre-school. Believe it or not, just being out of the house with other intelligent women was inspiring!

If we don't continue to grow and learn, we become dull. Keep on doing new things, even if it's just driving home on a road you've never been on! :)
