A wonderful fact about boys I discovered in my reading today! "A boy's brain "shuts off" (enters a state of rest) more times per day than a girl's brain tends to do, as a result, boys and girls generally have different approaches to paying attention, visioning their future, completeing a task, de-stressing, feeling emotions, relating to others, becoming bored, and even having basic conversations. All this to say, the next time your boy or husband, for that matter, looks like they have check out of the conversation, realize that his brain maybe in a state of rest. Learn more about the state of boys in Junior and by reading Michael Gurian's book The Purpose of Boys. www.juniorthemagazine.com.

I'm a single mom of a boy. Son is 5 years and starting kindergarten this fall - finally! lol I've been a single mom since I found out I was expecting and haven't looked back since. There's nothing better in the world than being a mom, though chocolate makes a runner up every once in a while! lol

Hi, mom of 2 boys, and Grandmother of my grandson, I babysit during the day hours from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm while parents work. My two boys were once babies have grown to be husbands. I may beable to lend a helping hand with situations that arise today. What was so important in our lives bring up two boys they were not perfect had their off days as we do. But we were always open to discuss things with them. Just remember to enjoy each new day.

Mothers of Boys,

In the next issue of Junior, the magazine all about bringing up successful boys we will feature an excerpt from Peg Tyre's book, The Trouble with Boys. The title of the article is Why Recess is Required? As mothers of boys know, movement and boys go hand in hand. Order and introduce the magazine to other mothers of boys and they will thank you for the best advice from leading authors and experts on preparing our boys for success in school and beyond.

Boys are struggling. The stats tell us that something scary is happening to boys. Boys get 70% of all D's & F's, boys represent 90% of the discipline problems in school, 80% of all HS dropouts are boys, millions of boys are on Ritalin or other mind altering drugs, today a third of men ages 22-34 are still living at home with their parents supporting them in some way. Junior engages leading thinkers to address what's happening to boys and what tools and best-practices can be used to reverse these troubling trends. Check us out, email me to get a sample article or share your best-practices for raising strong boys. www.juniorthemagazine.com
