Welcome to the place for Moms raising children with special needs. I am fairly hands off in running the group, but have been known to delete comments that are clearly promotional in nature. Enjoy the community.

My daughter, Natalie, who is 11, tries very hard to keep up with other kids. (She is impaired in every category but without a diagnosis.) Recently when describing the position she played with two other girls who were playing soccer she said, "Sara kicked the ball REALLY hard. Zoe was the goalie. I was the team effort."

Love that story Barbara! It is so fun when they make connections. Especially those real world ones you are just hoping they grasp onto. Very happy for you.

As long as we're sharing...A few days ago while we were out on a walk Jaylen, almost 3, pointed and said "I see squirrel. He's climbing a tree. Just like Wonder Pets." Amazing considering he just started calling me mom about a year ago. He has gone from completely non verbal to extrememly verbal in a year. Thank goodness for his ABA classes!

That's a cool story Barbara! What a fun time - to see him showing what he has learned. How old is he?

Hi everyone, i have something that i'd like to share. My little boy (william), who is autistic, did something i thought was a bit funny and a little amazed. He bought me my cellphone, usually when he does this he wants to listen to the music i've downloaded onto it. So when i try to start it for him, i realize the battery is dead. I tell him this, expecting a trantrum he walks off, goes into the kitchen. He brings back 2 AA batteries. When i see the batteries i start laughing, but he has such a serious face. I had to explain to him i have recharge the batteries. He has never done that before.
