Welcome to the place for Moms raising children with special needs. I am fairly hands off in running the group, but have been known to delete comments that are clearly promotional in nature. Enjoy the community.

I dedicate this song to all of you:

Just wanted to share some exciting news with people who will understand how exciting and great it is when your child hits a long term goal. My son has just managed to go a bike. It has only taken me 2 years! but well worth it. My problems is now how to teach him to stop!

Hi! I just joined Twitter Moms. I am a pediatric Occupational Therapist, I work in the schools and sensory clinic part time. I wanted to put myself out there if anyone ever has any questions regarding sensory integration, therapy, toys, and resources or if you just want to find someone to talk to about diagnoses

Happy Tuesday!! We are on spring break in my neck of the woods. Just trying to keep my son busy, we do have his therapists coming everyday and will be doing some social outings! His younger sister is excited to be part of the group (she gets jealous when he has his time with his therapists, Leah -- I can totally relate). I am also going to try and work on my blog (I am the worse person on computers). Just wanted to say, love this group -- hoping to get to know you all better. Nice to know there are others out there going through the same thing!

Hi my daughter is highly functioning aspergers - extremely intelligent and thinks in a 'different way' - drives me mad at times. No organisational skills and no regard for other peoples property - is physically violent with me and guess what - she's just like ME lolol

I wanted to introduce myself. I have two children. My oldest who is now 15 (OMG) has profound disabilities. He is a beautiful person who gives unconditional love. His life has changed my life in all the different ways all of you know about. He has also directed my work life. I am now an advocate for inclusive play. I invite you to visit my website www.letkidsplay.com to learn more about my work on accessible playspaces as well as my toy store dedicated to our kids. I am glad to be here. I love the idea of sharing abilities.

hi there,
Just joined up. My name is Leah, I have three girls. My youngest JosieFaith has PDD. She is the greatest joy of my life.
When Josie was first diagnosed I remember feeling so alone. It's been about a year now and I can't believe how many wonderful people I have met since then. Most through her school, or support groups.
The most important lesson I have learned in this past year is to enjoy your life and not sweat the small stuff. It's taken me far.
Josie has a wonderful older sister who is her best friend. She can make her speak more than all of her teachers combined can.
I love my girls more than anything, however , at times I feel that there isn't enough of me to go around. I'm sure you all know what I mean.
What with all of Josie's therapies , her big sister Jamie feels ignored.
I try to use Josie's time with therapists to spend quality time with Jamie.
It just doesn't help much. Any suggestions out there?
Thanks in advance,
Leah
