Mom of teenage twins here - 15 year old girls (just finished freshman year in high school). Glad to see this group, seems most twin conversation is focused on babies (totally understandable!). Mine are identical, best friends, inseparable, and two halves of a whole. I've tried to make them their own people with separate things in their lives, but the more I pull them apart the more they come together so now I just let them be and they are incredible. Look forward to hearing other viewpoints.

Hi I just joined Mom of Teens. I am the mother of a new teen. My son just turned 13 last week, but I think the transformation started about a year ago with his mouth - OMG. I swear his metamorphosis is into something I do not recognize. I even blogged about it at http://typingqueen23.blogspot.com/2009/06/teenage-years_16.html

I have to agree with Joanna....trying to buy teens clothes that they don't pick out, or like, is a battle not worth fighting. I allow my 16 yr.old to pick out, or show me what she likes, then I decide if it's #1 appropriate enough, and #2 affordable. I really try to choose my battles carefully, and this method has proven to eliminate the clothing battle, lol! I second the resale shop idea~ these and even the (gasp, lol!) Salvation Army have come to our rescue plenty of times. We live in a fairly affluent area and there are many big name (designer) brands to be found at both establishments. Good luck~ and have fun.

Also, Liz, I have learned that buying anything that they don't like, is just a waste of money. Let them decide what they like, and then decide if it is affordable or not.

Hi Liz - I have a 15 year old, so clothes are big. I don't know about where you live, but in Toledo, we have a re-sale shop just for teens. They sell all the big names and more, so she can get her designer/trendy clothes for super cheap. I have always used re-sale shops since my kids were babies, and it has saved me an immense amount of money over the years.

Welcome to the 'club' Debbie! It is exciting (sarcasm) having teens. No doubt. Look forward to hearing more from you. Nice to meet you.

Hi everyone! I am so happy I found this group. I have a 13-year old boy and 15 year-old daughter. We have MANY problems with my daughter and have been through SO much in the last year. Looking forward to sharing stuff with others!

Tracy - I'm not there yet with my son-he's 10, but I am there with my daughter, who is 15. I commiserate with you. I'm probably nievely hoping my son won't do that, but I'm sure there will be moments.

Hello! I am a mom of 5 boys, 2 of which are teens. They went from sweet and innocent to waking up and becoming someone I don't know. They are not into drugs, drinking, things like that...but the mouths on them. Before becoming teens you could ask them to do something, to help with something, and you'd get no lip...now forget it!!! It drives me crazy.
