Moms Raising Kids With Conscience

This is a group for moms who want to raise GIVING kids. We want to inspire our children to think outside themselves: give to their communities, the planet, and others.

How do we teach our children that giving of themselves feels good, benefits everyone and will lead to an appreciative and happier life?

Please tell us your stories in this space. When did your child generously give to others, or behave selfishly, and how did you handle it? How did you feel. We think that there are so many everyday opportunities for our kids to learn about the joy of giving to others...

Hi creatively-conscious Moms!

I am an engaged and eco-conscious mother, worked in the film industry for about 15 years, and now a mom of 3.

I have started up a free on-line service for moms just like you, called http://yuumii.com - It's an adventure and learning game. One outdoor or creative activity a day for you to do with your children. We also get out into the community, and try to contribute to our local area, in some small way!

Hope you like it, and if you have any suggestions, please contact me!

Join the Adventure!!

To those of you raising boys with conscience I encourage you to check out Sharon Norris Elliott's new book Raising Boys to be Like Jesus. She is an educator and mother of 5 children. The principles in the book are designed for today's families and offer profound tips for bringing up successful boys who will be tomorrow's leaders. I am planning a feature story on the best-practices detailed in the book in an upcoming issue of Junior. www.juniorthemagazine.com.

Hi Roz. I thought the Earth Day this year was more evident and appreciated. Who could have missed out on those week-long freebies from coffee shops and fast-food, for example? :-D

Hi ladies! Watta great group we have here. I remember what Buddha said, "Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity." This truly gives us purpose for our children and for ourselves.

Another great resource featured in Junior Magazine! Matthew Kelly is the author of Building Better Families. We will have an interview with him in an upcoming issue with advice and tips for building strong families amid a cultural crisis. www.juniorthemagazine.com

It seemed to me the Earth Day celebrations were a little weak this year - did anyone else feel this way?
