Hi all - what a talented group of gals!

I've got a book coming out called Mindful Motherhood: Practical Tools for Staying Sane in Pregnancy and Your Child's First Year (New Harbinger/Noetic Books, May 2009)

About Mindful Motherhood
From hormones to stretch marks, labor pains to diaper changes, motherhood is an adventure like none other. The rapid changes in your body, your lifestyle, and your very identity call for a certain mental agility. Mindfulness can help you meet the challenge and approach every experience with your new baby with open eyes and an open heart. Based on research conducted at California Pacific Medical Center, and with a foreword by beloved meditation teacher Sylvia Boorstein, Mindful Motherhood: Practical Tools for Staying Sane During Pregnancy and Your Child's First Year has been hailed by women's health experts, mindfulness teachers, and psychologists alike:

“Mindful Motherhood contains what so many other parenting books omit:: the consoling information that each mother has the ability to know, deep within, how to care for her child. Mindful Motherhood is a gem."
—Christiane Northrup, MD, author of Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom

“Wise, soothing, and helpful—this is really good stuff for new mothers.”
—Jack Kornfield, author of The Wise Heart

“In Mindful Motherhood, you'll experience the wisdom of a mother, clinician, and researcher who outlines the accessible, practical steps to take to turn challenge into triumph during pregnancy and the parenting of young children. Read this book, give it as a baby shower present, carry it with you into the pediatrician's office—but most of all, take it in and savor its secrets for a richer life for yourself and your child.”
—Daniel J. Siegel, MD, author of Parenting from the Inside Out and The Mindful Brain

“This book will inspire, guide, and reassure mothers in pregnancy and after childbirth. Nothing could be more important to our families, our children, and the future of the world. Dads will benefit, also.”
—Paul Ekman, Ph.D., coauthor, with the Dalai Lama, of Emotional Awareness

"I think mothers everywhere would greatly benefit from this book. It is honest, openhearted, straightforward and compassionate. Mindful Motherhood is an invaluable resource for moms at any stage in their parenting."
--Sharon Salzberg, founding teacher of the Insight Meditation Society and author of Faith: Trusting Your Own Deepest Experience

Cassandra Vieten, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist, Director of Research at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, codirector of the Mind Body Medicine Research Group at California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute in San Francisco, CA, and co-president of the Institute for Spirituality and Psychology.

Hi Ladies,
Better late than never in replying, right? I'm a freelance writer with essays and article published in The Chicago Tribune, Huffington Post and other online and print venues in different parts of the country.

My whole list is here -- http://amysuenathan.com/?page_id=905 -- and most of my pieces are women/parenting oriented.

I'm finishing up my first novel and getting ready to query agents in April or May. I want to go the tradition, hard-nosed publishing route at first and I'll think about Plan B if that doesn't work out! You know, small press, e-book etc. I'm not interested in self-publishing, at least not right now.

Would love to hear more agent-query/book publishing experiences!!!

I have two published works. They are the first two novels in a series. Right now there are four in the series, but I'm not really sure how far it will go. It's a work in progress as all writing is. At any rate, my first novel was published in 2007 and is called Unpredictable Turns. The second novel was published this past January and is called Love Is...

The are both about these two women, Kate and Ellie and the relationship they have with each other, with men, their families, and their careers. U.T. mainly focuses on Kate after she loses her husband, Brian, in a car accident. She has to go back out into the dating world at 30 (something I, myself, am struggling with), and has to figure out how to move on in her life without Brian.

Love Is... picks up the story about 3 months after U.T. ends and focuses on Ellie and her blossoming relationship with Kate's brother, A.J. Ellie and A.J. discover their feelings in the midst of Kate's issues. They're both dramatic romance novels with everyday, yet complex, characters. I'm very proud of my work. They were published by Publish America, and are available at most major online book vendors.

Books 3 & 4 are both in progress. Book 3 is in editting and I'm searching for an appropriate title, but feel like I'm getting close. Both of these novels really hit home with me. Book 3 explores the journies couples take while going through infertility treatments. Book 4 takes a walk in the shoes of a couple who are separated due to the husband's obligation to military service. During his tour overseas, she discovers she is pregnant and must learn to cope with this.

Covers for U.T. and Love Is... are below.

Hi,
Sounds like everyone is doing so well with their writing! That's great.

I am the author of two books, one is a women's fiction novel and the other is a young adult novel. You can view these books at my website: www.paulbunyan.net/users/sletten

I also write and sell articles at Constant-Content, so my work is all over the Internet. I used to write for newspapers and small magazines but I find writing for websites is more fun and you are certainly reimbursed quicker. No waiting until publication to receive a check!

I have just started a blog for writer moms titled Write Moms. You can find that at: http://writemoms.blogspot.com I invite all of you to visit the site and share your experiences in writing and in being moms who write.

Happy writing,
Deanna

This is so cool! You all are amazing! How accomplished!

I'm just starting to write a book. What keeps you moving forward?

For now, I have a fun, in-your-face, blog: www.momdirt.blogspot.com

I did a piece on single moms, so I will definitely add Gloria Montoya's book on my blog when I do another post for single moms! I was looking all over the web trying to find resources for single moms, but nothing came up.

Thank you for starting this thread!

Hi Kelly, I stopped by your blog and really enjoyed it. If you add a follow button I will join up and follow your blog. I'm in MN too, way north where we aren't even thinking about planting anything until, say, Memorial Day weekend!
Happy writing,
DeAnna

I have published one novel, FIRST SATURDAY, so far. The first manuscript stunk and was more of an exercise, quite frankly. This was my second manuscript, and now I am working on my third manuscript, tentatively titled SCRAPS. You can find it mostly at online bookstores such as B&N and Amazon, and I hope to get a deal for a paperback version soon since it is in hardcover and currently out of print. I do have one last box of copies from a rained out festival signing, so let me know if you want it and cannot find it. Go to http://www.rosemaryob.com for more information.

I run Writing Military Mom (http://writingmilitarymom.blogspot.com) for ... well ... military spouses who write while raising children.

My copywriting business is A Word or Two, LLC (http://www.awordortwo.net, and http://1wordor2.wordpress.com), and I copywrite for businesses and individuals, and write articles for consumer magazines.

'Can't wait to read about everyone else's work.

Rosemary
