hi I'm new. Mother of two. My anxiety is overwhelming. I have suffered from anxiety, depression and severe stress for 30 years. My children are 5 and 11; my sorrow for them for having me for a mother breaks my heart. my world is getting smaller and so is theirs'. I don't know where to turn. stasi

Dr. Neddermeyer:

I joined this group to learn about other women dealing with anxiety. It just so happened that I found this group of women that are also moms, like me, and are dealing with anxiety. So I guess God guided me here.

I commented to Janis that I thought her statement was "funny" and I also thought she was "blessed". I deal with a lot of my anxieties with humor. Up until recently I thought that by getting to the point of "delirium" I was dealing with my thoughts and emotions the best way possible.

I now know I have power over my thoughts and my life. Don't get me wrong I still have anxiety, but anxiety doesn't have me.

I commend all people, not just women, with anxiety for dealing with this condition. And, I also thank everyone who has helped me through all of it. I am glad I started, and continue to look for help, in order to manage this condition.

Thank you for your referral to Joyce Myers. I will get in contact with her and I know this step can only help.

Thanks again.

Ruth

Janis: Your statement '....qualifies me as mom with anxiety." seems as if you believe you have a sanctioned qualifier. Is this a self-fulfilling prophecy or did you buy into someone's glass is half empty belief? Since we each create our reality--good, bad or neutral, why does having triplets plus one more all born within a year necessarily mean you are a candidate for; or it warrants having anxiety.

These are the questions I ask my clients, when they tell their story of why they are anxious, etc. At first they are taken aback. After a discussion they recognize their preconceived notions about their circumstances and how they have awfulized their current situation is all created by their thoughts. Granted you have many challenges to meet and manage. Yet, there is no criteria that would state anxiety is a given or would be part of the equation.

When your thoughts bring anxiety into the equation; what can you do? You can reframe your experiences to include having an adventure you least expected, but now that you are in it, the joy is in meeting those challenges with strength and courage. The same strength and courage you have used to meet other challenges. Bring forth your joy of parenting your brood with significant calm, clarity and enthusiasm in each and every situation. Since you can only live in the moment and each moment changes, you can parent your brood moment to moment without feeling anxious or worrying ahead. I trust you will have a fun rewarding journey parenting your children. Best Regards, Dorothy

Unemployed??? Follow NYS Dept Of Labor: Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/nyslabor), Twitter(http://www.twitter.com/nyslabor), and YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/NYSLabor). Apparently these sites can also help you find a job too.

Dr. Neddermeyer:

I live in NYC and I was wondering If you can recommend me to a Specialist in Hypnosis. I got your website address from Momswithanxiety.com/twittermom and I wanted to see if I can actually meet someone in person who can help me be free of Anxiety/Depression. I can't help but feel that there is something more in my subconcious mind that I have not worked out and can't be free of this condition because of this. That's why I need a referral to someone that can help me bring out whatever "it is" out.

Thank you.

I have struggled with anxiety for over 10 years. I have sporadically spent about 3 of those 10 years on medication. I just recently went back on Prozac after a 4 year vacation from it. (I also just lost 12 pounds after starting Prozac...which isn't usual, I know!) I am planning on weaning off the Prozac in the next 6 months. I am a big believer in treating this without medication and I'm usually successful, but this last bout with my panic disorder was unlike any I have ever experienced. Two months of nausea, dizziness, insomnia, muscle weakness, chest pains, trembling and lying on the floor, watching the world spin. Not a single trick in the book helped me this time - trust me, I know them all! This can be a real sneaky monster to fight sometimes. In any case, medication was a blessing this time around, but I do look forward to being without medication again soon. Hang in there everyone!

Ruth: You can be free of Anxiety/Depression and mild anxiety/panic attacks. I have helped women like you for 33 years without pills and if someone is taking pills they can stop using them within a short time.
