Hey Ladies!
I know some of you are in a position where the docs think it may be Lupus instead of RA. I just came across this article and thought I would share. It's from BabyCenter. Enjoy!

Interesting article. Also, of note is neonatal lupus. I thought the article would at least make some mention.

There are studies that have shown that Neonatal lupus is a passively transferred autoimmune disease that occurs in about 1 to 2 percent of babies born to mothers with autoimmune disorders, including systemic lupus erythematosus and Sjögren's syndrome. It may also occur in some children of mothers who have antibodies to Ro/SSA and/or La/SSB antibodies without a diagnosed autoimmune disease. Many mothers of babies with neonatal lupus do not have lupus or other autoimmune disease at the time of the baby's birth, but they may develop autoimmune disease in the future.

While I do agree with this correlation, I know it s true. I am sure that all of us know that it is. For whatever reason, I do not really believe that heredity is a factor. For example, if dad has RA, Lupus, Fibromyalgias, any autoimmune condition, I do not beleive that he would pass that along to his children. However, I do believe that mothers pass those genes along when they carry the child. When I say that, I mean that surrogacy is the exception.
