Beer Summit and Birth Certificate!!
I can't vent to my family because they are extreme conservatives, I vented on my FB page and got jumped by all kinds of Obama haters.... Is anyone else sick to death of hearing about Obama's birthplace and the matter of him hosting the Beer Summit!!! Of all the things going on in this country right now, this is what the media and people decide to focus on???

Oh my! I too cannot discuss politics with my family and friends. I had a friend try to start a debate with me, on FaceBook, but I told her I refuse to do so at the risk of losing a friend. I only debate with academics or other people who are educated and can discuss a topic objectively without all the emotional baggage. I just posted a piece in the opinion section of my paper, and I have already had my fiance's supervisor tell him that I don't know what I'm talking about and said that I probably buy everything that that SOB (president obama) has to say. I just read a book (I'll have to get the title for you) about extreme right wing fanatics and hate talk, and just about everything being said from the right at the moment is filled with hate and nastiness. It is disgusting, but people swallow it hook line and sinker!

Okay - here's the name of the book. "The Eliminationists: How Hate Talk Radicalized the American Right" by David Neiwert. My family/friends, and I'm sure yours as well, are not radicalized right wingers, but so many people on the right seem to buy into just about anything that comes from a conservative rightwinger anymore. This book does an exellent job of explaining it all.

Thank you, I will definitely check that out. My Dad is pretty extreme, it's a product of leaving in the DEEP, DEEP, DEEP, DEEP South! it's a wonder I ended up with such an open mind.
