Did Obama's use of social media put him over the top?

Pretty much everybody agrees that the campaign benefited from social media, but if he had led a traditional campaign would he have still won?

I'm not sure. I know people were tired of the Bush presidency and wanted something different. People wanted a man who could speak in full sentences. If you listen to the right wing media- Hannity, Limbaugh, etc; the traditional press was only writing good things about Obama and bad things about McCain. This is what swayed the populace.
I do think that from now on campaigns will use social media to get their point across.

Michele,
I think you misunderstood me. I hope I can make this a bit clearer.
Certain people in the population believe that Obama won, because of the way the press was positive about Obama and negative about McCain. They needed something (someone) to blame.
Hopefully, people were not duped by the media. We are living what the latest administration has done to our country. No matter what the spin was, we saw/felt what was happening. We wanted something different.
I watched foreign press. I checked the factcheck.org(?) Which I believe were less unbiased. I saw that the Republicans, in general, were caught in more lies than the Democrats.

I think we need to give the people better credit than being duped by the media bias. People were just plain FED UP. There it is, Hannity, Rush, and all the rest of you pompous asses.

The Republicans were caught with their pants down, and are scrambling to get into the current century; they have a lot of work to do.

I think he would have still won, but I think it would have been a lot closer race. I'm glad he did! It shows progression and his willingness to embrace technology rather than be afraid of it. Have a great day tomorrow and good luck this year!
