I'm sorry I had to miss it. I did see some preview stuff on CNN, though. Like the CNN reporter, I was disappointed in the fact that there was an awful lot of celebrities there. He didn't think it was appropriate to bring Hollywood into a correspondents dinner, and I think I would have to agree with him. This was supposed to be a dinner to honor Washington correspondents, not celebrities. Oh well.

Hi. Thanks for responding. Interesting thought. The only stars that I could see inside the banquet room were Ashton Kutcher and Demi. But there were a wide variety of people there. I guess their one chance to be up close with President Obama.

While I was watching CNN, they were showing several stars making their entrance - it was very similar to a red carpet event. They were posing, etc. with fans screaming and taking pictures. The CNN reporter mentioned that some celebrities did say they were there to be up close to the President. It concerns me a bit, because so many critics still talk about the "love affair" with Barak Obama. It seems like this sort of thing would just add fuel to that criticism. These Washington reporters are supposed to be (at least that's the idea) serious political journalists. I think it takes away from that. It kind of candy-coats the serious side of politics. Nice to meet you, by the way.

It's nice to meet you too! They can't help but be star struck by him, he's got that "it factor." Maybe the event needs to be called something other than White House Correspondents. But at any rate, I enjoyed seeing the President's lighter side. Thanks for responding.

Speaking as a British Citizen, I find Obama to be a great orator. He has just proved he can also laugh at himself and others in the White House, showing how down to earth he is. He's the best President the US is going to get in my eyes. Long may he serve!
