It's nice to find Obama Mama's here! I must say, I miss the daily tweets from the Obama camp, and the almost daily speeches. Is anyone else as bummed as I am that his grandmother didn't make it to see the big day? I hope that all the people out there saying "let's give him a chance", will. I hate that within days of the elections, the first hate crime took place (a cross burnt on a lawn in New Jersey of all places).

I live in PA, originally from NYC, and I live on a multi-ethnic street, literally covered with Obama signs. No else wants to take theirs down either...

Tabi, I am so Happy to see a fellow Oklahoma resident on here!! I say resident because I personally do not consider this home. I am a military brat and a Yankee at heart. This southern mentality is not for me and that has never been more apparent than during this election! I am so ashamed that we are the only state in the nation that was COMPLETELY red this election. Sadly like you I have been dealing with more than enough of the Obama hating attitudes and Im so over it! I am so proud to have witnessed this amazing mans struggle to the White House and I couldnt agree with you more...he has literally given his life over to serve as our President. Not a day will go by that he he and his family are not in our prayers. A friend of mine told me yesterday "Nothing gets to us that hasn't gone through God first" With that in mind Im optimistic about the next 4...hopefully 8 years with Barack as our Commander in Chief, because he "gets it"

I'm still amazed at the ignorance in this country. My daughters high school held an election between students and teachers. Obama won hands down. After the elections held at school the McCain student supports threatened to call in a bomb threat if Obama won. Well he did win by a landslide and every day since our daughters school has had bomb threats. On November 5th they searched the school with dogs and really took their time. However, Thursday and Friday they didn't search and considered it another prank. Now, students don't feel safe at school.

My 5 year old daughter feels a special connection to this election and the Obama family because her name is Sasha, just like the president-elect's youngest daughter. She spent election night writing electoral votes on stickers and puting them on our wall map. This video shows the evening's fun, ending with her watching his acceptance and getting to see another little girl named Sasha kiss her daddy, the 44th president of the United States of America: http://web.mac.com/priceanita/Site_3/Video_Kid-Blog/Entries/2008/11/5_Election_night_2008.html

I have to share something funny that happened this week. On Wednesday evenings we go to my parents house and have chinese food for dinner. I never really take too much stock in what my fortune cookie says but this week I had to share it cause it was very fitting. It said - "Happier days are definitely ahead for you. Struggle has ended" I thought that was too funny the day after the election : )

OMG Tabi! It really is amazing the level of hatred that exists. One of my friend's son's, who is a second grader came home from school and told her that one of the kids in his clas said Obama was a "baby killer"! How sad is that to expose second graders to that!!!!

All we can do is keep taking the high road like our candidate, soon to be the 44th pres of the United States (WOO HOO) did by handling situations like this with grace and respect. When Obama can say "You don't have to boo, just vote" and silence a crowd respectfully that speaks volumes!

Thank you!! It is a breath of fresh air and encouragement to finally listen to fellow democrats!! Its very one sided down south here in oklahoma.I wrote that email below to all my republican friends that have been sending me obama hate mail for months now. I couldnt take it anymore. I was quiet this whole time and finally I had to let my voice be heard. Thats why it seems so defensive because I am standing up for what is right I cant take it anymore with the one sided thinking. My best friend in CA lost 2 close friends because of this election of 10 years from highschool friends I am not joking. They kept sending her obama hate mail and she text messaged them today telling them to never talk to her again!! she really takes her beleifs personally as so do I. The hate for Obama is getting really thick down south here. I scared my back windows on my car will get smashed for having my Obama sticker. no joke. I had a lady yell "baby murderer" to me as I held a Honk 4 Obama sign!!!!!!!!!! on the street corner the day before election, when she drove past me!!!!!!!

I wish I had found this group last month when some of my twitter friends were getting on my nerves. I'm thrilled to death that Obama won. I know that we still have a long way to go, but at least Obama is willing to do the work to get us back on the right track!

I'm with you Tabi. I'm sorry about your house being egged and you having to put up with intolerant people. I think you're right on with the gas prices, 'let's lower gas prices a week before the election and hope everyone forgets that we've been ripping them off'. Obama's acceptance speech was so amazing and I am so excited about where he is going to lead this country : )
