I just wrote a post on my blog about questions to ask when researching a home party business. The post is www.sydneyandrews.com/blog. I'd love to hear your input!
It's great that you posted a list because so many people don't know what to ask. I have a list on my blog as well. My list evolved out of researching many companies. I put it up as a permanent link on my blog in an effort to help others.
Hi Jill,
I checked it out. Good basic questions to ask. One thing that people need to consider is the profit margin --all companies are different. Also, start-up costs (like you mentioned). It is not necessarilly negative to have a larger start-up cost (such as purchasing inventory) than some other companies ---if you value customer service. It just depends on your values . . . Some companies have clients order and then they wait several weeks for the product ---and other companies recommend having the consultant keep an inventory on hand --so, the client can receive their order on the spot.
I have two home-based businesses --Mary Kay Cosmetics and SendOutCards. They have similar values --but, are very different as well. With Mary Kay the start-up cost was $100 (and then you purchase the inventory level you desire --or none at all) --just depending on how you want to run your business.
SendOutCards was $398 -- and relatively no on-going costs (other than the cost of the cards/postage that you send to your contacts).
Thanks for posting your blog --- Wishing you huge success!
