Marketing on Facebook?

Has anyone been successfully marketing on facebook? I have a page and a group for my Celebrating Home business but the activity is not what I want. My husband setup a facebook page for his work and had 4000 fans in 3 weeks! There are some pages over 100k fans. There is a great market on facebook. I think the secret is offering specials and posting useful posts to the fans.
