Avatar photos

Could someone please tell me if Avatars are created using photoshop and if so how do I do them? I have CS3.

If you are making one of yourself, just crop your face out of a photo and then save it as a small file, maybe 1 inch by 1 inch?; ▶ Reply to This

Most places, like twitter or facebook or a forum, will have a place where you can upload them and they host the avatars.
