I use PS CS3. I'm just learning, trying to wrap my head around it, so any tips, tricks and suggestions will be most welcome!

I agree with Jenn. I do not think it is worth an upgrade. If you want to upgrade, wait until October when PSE8 will come out. If you buy 7 now, you'll regret it in October.

Dani - personally I wouldn't spend more money if you're happy. You KNOW they will come out with 8 before toooo long, and you'll just want that. I have 5,6, and 7 and PSCS2,3,4 all installed on various computers and I use CS3 or 4 for designing, and PSE5 for just basic scrapping. So really, it's all what you're happy with!

I have a few question. I have PSE6 and my sister has PSE7. Now I like PSE6 but my sister says that PSE7 is sooo much better. Do y'all think it is? Should I just go ahead and get it?

Oh, and I can probably speak for Jenn too, but I do know I am always willing (and always seeming to) help anyone that has a specific question, whether in my Subscriber Area or not. There are many ways to find me....from e-mail, to the forum, to Facebook Fan page, to Pingbox. People ALWAYS seem to find me. I cannot hide!

Yes, I just taught at my local school and found all sorts of things I need to change in my tuts! It was mostly on the intro pages though...not the program pages. I do need new graphics I think...but I may wait for PSE8 to come out for that.

Everyone, yes, Jenn and I support each other (that's why I said "friendly")....she's very knowledgeable and has great stuff at her site. Whereas each person requires a different way to learn, each teacher has a different teaching style.....you'll learn something different from each and then adapt into our own methods of using the program.

I would love to branch out onto live lessons, but just don't have the time. So Jenn and I are offering different aspects. I do help people one-on-one in my chatroom.

Mine is set up as a self-guided class or you can join one of my guides and receive e-mails from me reminding you to do the next lesson. I do check off who does what lesson, so many are finding this great encourangement to just learn!

JudiElise, I'm so glad you are doing well now, I had wondered. And you're right, you need to just play around. I got a kick imagining you wandering around your 'ranch house' looking for something that could be a kitchen!! You're right, it's a lot to ask newbies to just go find something that is in there somewhere. They need to get new texts.

And yes, Hummie, that is a challenge to keep tutorials up to date. When they went from PSE5 to PSE6 things changed so much I found I had to redo stuff. I'm in the process of redoing for PSE7 now. Even I have trouble finding things sometimes and just have to pull down all the menus till I find them!!
Cara - Hummie has a great deal of information on her site, and she has both video and print tutorials for some of her information, so you should be able to get what you need. I refer people to her all the time, so if there's something you need to know how to do, try there! What I can offer you is live classes - we use gotomeeting.com and you can see my desktop while I demonstrate stuff and you can ask questions in real time. This means I can stop right then and go over something again until you understand it. Our students tell us they love to learn this way, it's like sitting with the instructor in person! We also do one-on-one consulting, if you'd prefer private classes. Keep persevering, and sooner or later you WILL find the learning resources you need, and once it all clicks you will wonder whatever you found to be so hard! LOL! Good luck!

Just to give an update.

I am in my fourth week of my class and finally love it! The biggest obstacle was the texts are not for the latest version, so I have to read twice and search online for appropriate readings. This was a big pain, because the entire interface for PSE7 looked different from the text illustrations. For a newbie, that was like saying a ranch house had the same stuff in it as a colonial! It may, but everything is laid out differently! At first, this was very frustrating, but I am much better at finding everything.

Two tips I can give. One, the tutorials from within PSE7s Help are great! I use them in addition to my texts. Two, create layers and start playing around with the program! This is definitely a program that need experimentation. But I call it fun.

I should get an A in my class! Thanks for the encouragement!

Judi
