If write (right) now, you had the once in a lifetime opportunity to write your best poem EVER. What would it be? What would you write about? Would you use form or would it be free verse? Would it rhyme? What kind of meter would it have?

OK, so here's your opportunity. Write it now. Edit it. Rewrite it. Post it for the world to see.

We'll all vote and I'll Announce the winner!

You might even get a Prize...like a free ebook or something free!

I'll review the poem on my website along with an interview from the poet who authored it!

(Prize donations will be accepted..........)

Why do we do this?
Is the pain we cause
Worth the love?

Love is like a song
Over & over it plays
Voicing itself, to me
Every single day

In the Arms of the Shepherd

When I was very young, straggling behind the others,
Out of my youthfulness I was stolen in the night
By the enemy of all

I became disoriented and confused, lost,
I wandered deeper and deeper into the vast wilderness around me
I could hear the Shepherd calling, feel His footsteps near me, but
I could not find my way to Him.
It seemed as though the darkness
Would separate us for all of eternity

I wandered farther into the wilderness, and
In the darkness I became blinded,
The depth of my emptiness consumed and paralyzed me
I was drowning in my own total despair.
I became cast, totally helpless,
weighed down by my own hurt, anger and filth

When my body could move no further
The Shepherd called again, He was near.
I could run no further away, go no deeper into myself.
Body and soul I laid down helpless at His feet.
Exhausted, empty and consumed with guilt.
I could feel the Shepherd reaching out to heal me
I turned into His support and surrendered completely.

He restored me, healed my soul, cleansed my body.
He lifted me tenderly into His loving embrace
And covered me with His amazing Grace
He healed me, renewed me.
My overgrown coat had been laden with guilt, dirt and shame
Yet as He took His place at the throne of my heart
And I released myself into Him
It all fell away and scattered as far as East is from West

I was free - In His arms
I became white as snow,
The all consuming emptiness
Was all at once filled with His presence,
And I was totally satisfied, finally longed for nothing else,
I had found my way home, the Shepherd, my Savior
Was the remedy I had sought in the darkest of days.

He restores my soul in every present day
When I am burdened I lay my worries at His feet and
Crawl up into His mighty lap and rest
I surrender each day to His will, and am comforted
By His very presence, my Shepherd, my Savior whispers in my ear,
And I can hear Him now, I know where He is,
He is here, always here, He lives in me.

In you He is either living or right beside you waiting for your surrender.

I like this one the best so far, but did not see the attachment to your other one, the one you said may be your best one yet...

Okay, here we go again, this is a different poem, but one that I really like. I would love to hear your comments, hoping to get it published at some point. Thanks!

I am a worker
cold and brown
I do my job
Upside and down.
Take your abuse
Buy some new Shoes
Put me in the ground.

(Just for fun.)

The Hearts Of Mothers

A Mothers Heart is so unique
Listen close and hear it speak
A Mothers Heart is full of love
A blessing from the lord above
A Mothers Heart must endure
And offer up a constant cure
For every pain inside and out
This Heart no child will ever doubt
A Mothers Heart unrelenting
A devotion non repenting
A Mothers candle of love always burns
And finds reward when love returns
