Hello,

My name is Patrice. I recently joined this website. I must say that this is the first group that I've officially joined. In 2007, I gave birth to an amazing 24 weeker named Deuce. As strong as he was, he faught in NICU for 5 weeks and passed soon after. He touched so many people in our lives. I just wanted to say that I still feel connected, and shortly after his passing, my husband and I became pregnant again with our daughter Zoe. She was born at 36 weeks and is a healthy (fiesty-- just like her brother!) little girl.

So, I just wanted to connect. I know that life in the NICU is a rough journey to ride. Again, I am just still connected.

So, please take good care, and keep in touch.

I have four kiddos. my oldest and only boy tried to come at 30 wks but they were able to stop it and again at 32, 33, and 35. He lasted to 37!! My oldest daughter was born 35 weeks (6lbs 13oz) with traumatic delivery resulting in a brain bleed and seizures. After 8 days in the NICU the bleed disappeared and she was able to go home. She wears glasses and was diagnosed with asthma at only 16mnths old. but all in all very healthy 7yrd. My middle daughter was my full term kiddo and biggest at almost 8lbs. That leaves the baby... she has had the most medical problems. She was born at 36 wks and weighted 6lbs 3oz. She has the cutest 2 webbed toes! She had problems maintaining temps and sugars and at one week old had rapid noising breathing. She was sent to a hospital 2 hrs away for testing and they found she had a small hole in her heart, tachypnea (fast breathing), and tracheomalacia (underdeveloped trachea). She grew just fine up until 4mnths when she went from 16 lbs to 14 lbs and then never really gained it back until she was almost 1yr. They immediately started testing and just this year she was diagnosed with IGF-1 Deficiency (lacking a major growth factor). She now take daily shots so she can grow normal. She is very bright and often hammers at the attention her small size gives her. She is 2.5 yrs and weights 25lbs and is 32inches tall.

In reading everyone's stories I am in awe of all that we have collectively been through.

My son was born 6 weeks early due to a placental abruption. Not exactly the natural birth we were planning! Our first year was full of ups and downs as every premie mother understands. I don't think I really understood the shock I was in until recently.

My son is now a happy and healthy 3 and a half year old. We are grateful and blessed! I look forward to discussions with you all!

Hello everyone.

I have a 14 month old son who was born at 29wk 6 days and weighed 3lbs 2oz. My goal was to get to 30 wks, so not too bad. I had had 4 2nd trimester losses prior, so we knew he would be early. We are truly blessed. He has had no serious problems. One transfusion and developed SVT before leaving the hospital. He is now taking 5-8 steps at a time and says things like, "All Done" and "Up."

I've decided to tell my story and will touch base in the near future. Getting him here was a 7 year process with a lot of ups and downs.

Hi, My premmie was a 25 weeker, 1 lb 7 oz. She is now 9. She was in hospital till her due date. She has no hearing or sight problems, is tall for her age and very healthy and bright. I breastfed her till 2 1/2 and she has had no problem with food. As bubs born so early have no natural immunity I am sure this is really important. I was breast pumping for 4 months every 2-3 hours until she was able to feed straight from the breast. All kids are special but the very early born are even more precious !!

All three of my boys were preemies! We had 36 weeks, 30 weeks and 35 weeks. They are 18, 14 and 8 respectively. I wish there was this resource when they were small.
