Hi Quiltingmoms!

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you if you sent me an e-mail. I was away a lot of the summer and last month I had another back surgery, and had another surgery yesterday, so I've been sleeping a lot and not on the computer.

My last e-mail asked if you are still interested in being on Quiltingmoms. I didn't receive any answers so I was going to delete the group. I see some new people joined...sorry if I didn't welcome you properly...I'm thrilled that you joined and am eager to see your quilts (I did see some of Karen's on her site...beautiful!), and hear your quilting stories.

I would LOVE it if you want to keep this group active. Attached is the last quilt I made for my niece's first baby. It's 61x61 so she won't use it for her new baby, but it'll be great to crawl on, use on her bed and snuggy up to while watching TV someday.

I guess I've totally been missing something. Usually I get an e-mail when someone posts and I didn't get your last few posts, Arlene. That's why I haven't responded to the questions about being interested and charm squares. sorry. I'm not seeing the post about the charm squares, so I'm just wondering what I would need to send to be involved?? How many charm squares? Do they need to be purple or ???

Re Purple Charm Quilt: I received a lot of 6" squares when I did the Quilt Tree. It was fun to see where they all came from. I asked if any of you were interested in joining in but I didn't receive anyone's address. If it's something you want to do, e-mail me at thedgang@comcast.net and we'll get started.

I can certainly relate Arlene. I had two surgeries this summer as well. I was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney in June and had my left kidney removed in July. Then had my gallbladder removed Sept 1st.
I had back surgery 13 years ago I know that can be rough. Take care and get lots of rest. Your quilt is just beautiful!!!!

Hi Arlene,
Sorry to hear you had surgery. I hope you're feeling better. What a bummer of a way to spend the summer.
I haven't been on this site for most of the summer either. I just got busy and we've been out of town quite a bit.
LOVE your quilt! It looks very fun! Lovin' those bright colors!! What a fun way to quilt it too!
I'd be interested in keeping the group, but I'm ok either way. I'm more back into quilting since the winter is coming. I've joined a Moda U class, which will last for the year and I finished one quilt--woohoo! I'll have to figure out how to post pics. I'm working on a bag now.

Welcome Karen! I'm glad you've joined us. What type of quilts do you like to do and what type of quilting business do you have? Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi everyone, I am new to TwitterMoms. So good to find other quilting moms out there. I love to quilt and have been making quilts for probably 15 years now. I was taught by my Grandma. I have a little quilting business.
Look forward to chatting with you all!!!

I've taken several classes with Karla Alexandra and she's big on using fabric from old blouses, skirts, jeans, etc. and starting a quilt and seeing where it takes you. I love the idea of piecing a quilt together and "feeling" what the next step will be. I bet your quilt will turn out beautiful and will be filled with a lot of love (that's the best!).
I've been quilting three years, but I have a lot of time to take classes, and try new things. Our bedspread is the biggest quilt I've made (ahem, or am making!). It's a circle pattern I'm making out of Asian fabric. It'll be quite the puzzle to put together.
I've also made several baby quilts but I don't like to make the same quilt twice (that said, I AM making the lattice pattern I made for my sister's 65th birthday for the place I volunteer to auction off in December), so I don't want to use the patterns I've made so far. I have four patterns and fabric for them, but I'm saving two for my daughter (hopefully...someday!), one's for an older child and one's for a boy so it's back to looking for a pattern and buying fabric (damn the luck! It's such a chore!!!). We're going to the coast tomorrow. I'll check out quilt shops along the way...any excuse to shop for fabric is good!

I have been quilting for about 4 years or so, but have done nothing in the last 2 years, I had a nasty car accident and have spent many many months trying to recover. Since I am still not 100% I am currently slowly and I do mean slowly working on a throw for my sweet hubby's "mancave" it is made from many years worth of jeans from our children that I have been saving.
I have cut 5x10 pieces and I have laid them out in brick style. I am thinking I will machine embroider each of the kids names in each corner,as I do have 4 kids.
Then maybe a design of some sort int he center, I am not using a pattern this one is pretty m uch decide as I go! I have never made anthing bigger than a throw, but have my heart set on a king size spread for my bed. I want to make a huge one, that will reach the floor on all sides, is seems very scary to me but it is what I want to do. Ihave made several baby blankets as well they are so fun, and I havve a pattern that is cute and quick, if you have the time it can be done in a weekend. That is exciting news on your niece!
