I am working one of our local pride events - Rainbows Festival - This weekend and it made me wonder...Do any of you take your kids to Pride?
We did when they were babies. Now with our oldest being 6 I have not taken her in a few years. I would to today's event because this is a more mellow event that our spring pride. I think we also haven't been taking the kids lately because when we are there we are always working a booth.
We don't really go to events. With Paisley's work/sleep schedule it's just too much to consider. We live near Orlando Fl, and they have pride events there, heck - the Mouse has Gay days, but we just don't go.
Are we against it? Heck no! Teach children that being yourself is something to celebrate! I'm pretty sure that if we put it to a house vote, they'd choose the beach unless we were going to Disney.
Yes - we took our kids at every age and sometimes let them help at the booth if we were working. They've marched in parades here and in DC - and it gives us a great opportunity to talk about different kinds of families and values that different families have. We wouldn't take them if we wanted to spend our time in the Beer Garden, but kids are very welcome at our Pride parade and festival.
