Abby - that has to be extremely frustrating! I believe your persistance will pay off, though. Unfortunately, anything that involves government, has to go through proper channels. It can be exasperating, but it's the only way they can ensure things are handled according to regulations, because if they rush it, there could be not-so-good consequences. The courts might be backlogged, as well, which could be part of it. People take vacations, too, so that causes delays. Not making excuses, but I know how this stuff can be. I am waiting for back child support, which is supposed to come from my ex's tax refund. He has his refund, but I still don't have my money. They tell me it's on the books, but they can't say when it will get to me. Typical.

Have you tried a face-to-face encounter with the people you're supposed to be in contact with? I don't know if that would make a difference or not, but at least it puts a face on the case #.

Hi everyone. Unfortunately I have no update. I was promised that I wouldn't be given the run around and guess what? I have. They transferred counties then sent me back to the original county. Now nobody will return my calls or emails. It's been over a month, but I'm not giving up.

It's just amazing how the victim always has to try so hard for justice to be brought, while the criminal is out there walking around free and living life. I now understand why so many people give up. I will not be one of those people, though it is exhausting.

Hopefully the next time I right I'll have good news. Thanks for the support.

Hi Nancy. Thanks for the words of encouragement. The last six years have been tough but I'm doing everything I can to make sure he doesn't get to walk away again.

I've had a little trouble with the system recently. Turns out there's a jurisdiction issue so they said they were going to forward it to the county I now live in. I haven't heard anything yet. I called the prosecutors office yesterday, but they didn't tell me too much. Now I have to try to get a hold of the trooper that contacted me before.

I'm exhausted but I'm not giving up. He will learn that he cannot do this to someone and get away with it.

Nancy, whenever you're ready to share your story I'm here to listen. It's nice to have someone to talk to that has an idea of what it is your going through.

Take care all.

Hi Nancy - Welcome to the group! Looking forward to getting to know you. I am still somewhat new to twittermoms, so I am still getting myself established and learning my way around. I'm always glad to meet another mom. Welcome again!

I also wanted to apologize for not having a picture of me yet. I'm working on that. I usually try to avoid the camera as much as possible and am always the one taking the picture instead of the other way around. As soon as I get a chance, I will have a picture posted. I like seeing everyone I'm chatting with, so I want to introduce myself properly. Good luck Abbey!

Wow Abby! Go girl! You are a rare woman to pursue this the way you have. Please let me know what happens?

Thanks again. I do already have an update. The attorney said there was really nothing he could do for me because it should be the State of Michigan pursuing charges.

Luckily I had already emailed the prosecuting attorney with the situation and he replied this morning. Here's what he said:

"Abby- I have requested Miriam Cavanaugh to take whatever action is
necessary to revoke his probation and send him to prison. I am also
going to have an investigator from the Michigan State Police contact you
to pursue additional charges. This guy has obviously not learned a
lesson and needs to be locked up for a long time."

I was ecstatic when I read that. Justice will finally be served! So now I can only wait to hear what happens. I'm just thrilled that something is finally going to be done with him. Thanks again for the support.

Abby Glad to help in any way I can. Great news on meeting with your attorney. I hope he/she can accomplish something for you. You sound like a really smart lady with a lot of courage and strength. If you don't mind sharing, I would like to hear updates on your situation. Once again, I will be thinking about you and hoping for the best.

Joanna,

Thank you that news thing is a good idea. I did contact the authorities but they said without proof there's nothing that can be done. So, I have a meeting with an attorney tomorrow. I will not let him get away with this. He is 25 and has been to jail over 40 times. He has 2 felonies in one year and still gets to walk free. I will not tolerate it. The legal system needs a major improvement, but if we all try a little it might one day happen. Thanks for supporting this issue.
