First of all I want to say that I am an Ex-Arbonne rep. At the time it was a hard decision to leave but at the end of the day it was because it was a good business decision for me and for the level that I wanted to achieve in business.
Ok so the boards are lit up with Rumors about the impending demise of Arbonne. This supposedly all stemmed from a national call that Rita Davenport did recently and said that if they didn't raise $400 million soon they would go into Chapter 11. Ok so that is not exactly the smartest thing to do in the first place!
As of posting this there has been no public record that I can find of a Bankruptcy filing. Now bear in mind here that if it does turn out to be true in the next few days it's Chapter 11...not Chapter 7...big difference!
Companies all over America are filing Chapter 11's (which is a re-structure as opposed to a liquidation). So what?
My point here is let's see how it plays out. The Arbonne reps will need support now and it is time for them to keep a level head. I have seen this happen so many times in MLM. The rumors start and next thing you know the vultures are out trying to pick off, in this case, any Arbonne rep they can get their hands on.
I was wondering why suddenly I was getting an influx into my inbox on FB and some pretty high profile followers on Twitter. This is how it went, the first message was innoquous and then BAM! So are you still with Arbonne, if so I would like to offer you and your downline a home because your company is going into liquidation!!! RAFL! I think the vultures must have devised a cookie cutter message because nearly all of them were identical.
Firstly, although I'm still with Arbonne, I'm not a business builder there anymore. My focus shifted months ago to something that suited me better. Second they are incorrect in their assumption that it is going into Liquidation........there is Zero evidence of that! In fact currently there is zero evidence of a Chapter 11. Although that may be stretching it a bit because I'll give a link here a bit later to the CEO's release and if you know CEO speak, in my opinion she is setting it up for a re-structure.
Anyway as I said now is the time, as fellow PROFESSIONAL network marketers to show the Arbonne rep community some support. There is going to be enough uncertainty in the next few weeks without the vultures swooping in trying to scaremonger them into jumping ship.
Will loads of them jump ship? Yes. Will loads of them be looking around for another company to hang their hat? Yes. Will loads of them stay and ride the storm out? Yes.
This happens every single day in business and whereas it is stunning when it happens to such a quality company, it still happens all the time, even in MLM. Personally I don't think Harvest Partners did Arbonne any favors. They were in and out and it was just business for them.
Eitherway the last thing the reps need now is the amateur gang saying "oh come join my business" why? because they know it's selfish motivation on the part of that person and not out of true concern.
Reps if you're still being paid on time that's a good sign. If you are going to look around for other companies as a back up, that's understandable, it's business but I would say keep a level head here.
If they are going to file Chapter 11 then it will happen soon. Then I believe there is a 120 day period for a re-structure plan to be put forward by the Company. If that's not acceptable then the Creditors can put forth their own plan.
If an acceptable plan to all parties emerges (which in most cases it does) then it will probably be business as usual. It's only if there is no agreement that it's converted to a Chapter 7 liquidation and that would be a long way off. And so yes while it may be necessary to alter your plan, I don't believe there is any need for panic.
So Arbonne reps keep your heads held high, I think they are some of the best products on the market. Many MLM's have been through this and have come out the other side.....many haven't but generally they wouldn't have anywhere near as good a quality product as Arbonne.
