HeyHey, I am Amanda, I have a 7 year old. I love my son so much but find single motherhood a battle. I guess we all can especially since most of us didn't sign on to do it alone but now are.

Hi everyone!! So glad to be here... I'm Gina, I'm 42, and I have one son who is (gasp!) a few months away from being a teenager. But he's honestly such a great kid... at least so far. I may live to eat those words in a year or two. LOL It has been he and I against the world for over 10 years now, and we make a great team. We live on the Pearland/Friendswood line in SE Texas, along with our sweet baby of a dog and two insane cats. ("Insane" and "cat" is probably redundant, huh?)

We both love gaming (EQII), we're both archers, and I love to do crafts. We're absolute Disney nuts, and live to be at Walt Disney World or on the Disney Magic as often as possible. :-)

Can't wait to make some new friends here!!

Hi everyone
I'm a single mom of a beautiful 4 month year old baby girl. The "father" hasn't really been in the picture since the day I told him "I'm pregnant" So I rely a lot on my parents, but they are such a big help. I have spoken with him in the past, and he has seen her, but when she was about 3 weeks old he decided it wasn't for him and I haven't seen or heard from him since.
Anyone else gone through a similar situation?

I would really like to see some great discussions going, I know we all have a lot to say and we can really get a great community going! So welcome all!

Hi everyone! Ive been a single mommy for just over a year now. My lil girl is almost 3 now. Its nice to have other single moms to interact with so Im glad I found this group! Luckly, her dad is also very involved in her life otherwise I dont know how I would do it all!

I have been a single mother for 7 yrs. My son is now 12yo. His dad pays child support on time, every time (wasn't always that way). He is in our son's life and see's him on the weekends he is not working. I raise my son 100%! I am very lucky to have family locally to help out! Sure there is much I could bash my ex about, but this is not the place! I just have to say, PLEASE do not talk badly about your childs father in front of them or to them. It does not accomplish anything, but maybe make you feel better getting it off your chest. Find an adult to confide in. As the child grows up they know the parent that didn't make them feel uncomfortable or bash the other parent. They will have a great deal of respect for you! I have the utmost respect for my Aunt who never said or did anything negative to her ex in front of my cousin! I as a niece noticed that and I was young at the time. So if I notice it your child sure will. I take that from her and apply it to my life. I don't even argue or ask for anything from my ex in front of my child. I do it outside or call from work. When my son was 6yo I made a comment that maybe daddy can take you to get some new tennis shoes and he came back with "daddy doesn't have to buy me anything you have to do that." That made me so mad, but I just explained that the judge, your dad, and I all agreed that your dad and I would both take turns in buying you clothes and shoes. We both love you and want to do that. Now that my son is older I will buy him some clothes and then ask his dad to buy some more with my son there. Then I tell my son he can show him where we got the ones on sale. I know my ex won't argue or make an ugly comment about it so I think it is fine now. I still don't discuss camp fees, sports fee, doctor/dentist fees in front of my son, because that usually comes back with "I don't have the money." So please just be really really careful about what you say. It is a very very hard thing to do, but you will feel better about yourself down the road! I know I am very thankful I do this and I feel very proud of myself and all I do as a single mother!
