Hi Joanne,
So true! Being a role model is the key!

Oh my gosh, Joe! Oh how very true those words are! I, too, have seen messed up kids from 2-parent homes. What it boils down to is whether or not you are a good parent - period! There are women with husbands that are a joke as a husband and a father. What good are they to those kids? And if the man is a macho jerk, guess what? He's going to raise a macho jerk just like him. I read a wonderful book about this very issue. It's called, "Raising Boys Without Men", by Peggy Drexler. I highly recommend single moms read this book, even if you don't have boys. It raises this very issue about how single moms - and moms in general - are judged so harshly by our society when it comes to raising boys.

Welcome AnnaMarie and Joanie.

AnnaMarie yes it is important that we stick together as it seems there is still a stigma attached to being a single mom. It seems that society still thinks we are the ones that produce the problem children.

I have seen children from two parent households that are problem children too. But hey it's ok they have two parents so that makes it ok.

Oh but now the single mom's kid now they have the problems that need to be addressed right away, the single mom must find a partner to help give the child guidance and direction.

I can honestly say I am way happier being a single mom than I ever was trying to find a man to be a 'father figure' for my son.

Hello!
My passion is to make life for single moms and their children as easy as possible to be the best we can be. I have been a single mom for 14 years and have been through the many challenges.

The National Association of Divorce for Women and Children just launched a new video program called Single Again! Now What? High-5 Club. Please check it out-

What's even more empowering...our program in turn helps the R & R Retreats for underserved women (a non-profit).

Hello Ladies, I'm thrilled to be part of the single moms group. It is one of the most challenging jobs that exist. I am blessed my children are now 28 and 25. Doing well and happy. That is all I prayed for when I became a single mom- my children were 12 and 9 at the time. I am so thankful because at times I felt I could not do it all. Has anyone ever felt that way?

Transitioning into manhood is not a natural process. It takes a man to raise a boy to be a man. If boys are not properly initiated into manhood, they are destined to embrace a subverted view of what being a man is. Women can describe what they think manhood is, men must model it! Read more about the hallmarks of a fully developed man in Junior, the magazine about bringing up successful boys.
