My husband and I went snowboarding at Camelback in the Pocono Mountains last week. Great ski resort and it's only two hours from his parents house. Can't wait til the little one can go!

Nealie - I'm curious.. where do you work.what do you do? I'm in the youth marketing business so needless to say, everyone at my office pretty much skates or snowboards. You're the cool mom for sure :)

Millennial refers to the generation. Also called Gen Y, etc. The ages of this generation is currently at 15-25. Pretty interesting the way they have experienced the world and how they think. It's going to define our society and culture as we get older. BTW...no one knew what a ripstick was. Yep, I'm on the East Coast.

Nealie,
Good post, but you made me feel REALLY old. :) (I'll be 44 in 10 days.) I also ride a Gravity. I'm curious now - what is the Millennial consumer? Did you tell them that college kid would probably be on a shortboard on his way to class? Maybe even a ripstick? :)

Happy Tuesday to my Skate-Mom Friends. I was proud of myself at work today. I'm the oldest female at my office (@ 30) and the only one with a kid. We had a informational session on the Millennial consumer. They gave us an example of a college kid riding his longboard to class. Of course, I jumped in and asked what type of longboard he rode - silence! No one had a clue - I threw out that Sector 9 is the most popular but I have a Gravity board. Yep, I'd say I'm still the cool mom at work. :)

Hey, Skateboard Moms. Any chance you ladies are also surfers? Is there a SurferMom group?

Hi, Ladies. I'd like to join. I'm not really good enough for the Parks, but I do skateboard regularly on my Gravity longboard (to/from the bus stop) and I'm a surfer. (I wonder if there is a Surfer Mom group....) I didn't start until I was 29, but both of my daughters skate. The 9 year old can ride anything, and the 7 year old prefers the longboard.

Hi Nealie - I know what you mean about the looks. I've been holding one of my kids and skating. I try to always have a helmet on them but still, people get freaked out. My husband will put one pf the kids standing on the board with him and cruise down a hill, they pick up serious speed and fly by people that are far from amused. Oh well right! I have to find some better pics so I can take down my most humiliating photo ever! lol

Kristine - I will join your small group as another skateboarding mom. I grew up on a board and now glide to the playground on a gravity board holding my 2-year-old son. I get plenty of interesting looks from the neighbors (parents and kids) but still love riding. Keep on rollin' gal!!! Glad I'm not alone!
