Hello Twitter Moms!
It's time to share your story!
If you’re like many parents, you may have sensed that your daughters are not being provided the opportunities to play sports that they want or deserve.
Title IX is a federal law that requires schools to provide female athletes with equitable equipment and uniforms, facilities, schedules for “prime time” games and competitions, and opportunities for participation.
The below story was recently shared by the Women's Sports Foundation. It's a real story that someone wrote in to share....
My daughter's softball team has a field (off-site by the way), but it’s nothing like boys’ baseball. We bring our own folding chairs and hide out behind a small fence to see the girls play. The boys’ field, just behind school, has bleachers. We’re grateful if the girls win and win fast, because without lights (like the boys) our games are called at dusk. Perhaps worst of all is the condition of the ground. The gopher holes make it impossible to field balls accurately, and I’m sure more than a few ankles will be twisted this spring.
