twitter moms: the influential moms network

Just thinking about what everyone's plans are for summer vacation. We are taking our first family vacation - a week at Lake Arrowhead at the end of June. We have done trips together before but it's always been to visit family, not really a vacation. I'm really looking forward to it! Are you taking a vaca this year? What are your plans - staying local or traveling afar? We're also looking forward to doing lots of fun things around town like museums, fairs, etc.

We're actually looking at buying a small motorhome and going on the road this summer. It's kind of crazy, but something I've always wanted to do. My kids love road trips, so hopefully we won't want to kill each other before we get back home.

Our plans are to hit several cities that we've always wanted to visit PLUS meet some of my bloggy friends on the way. In between sight seeing, I'll be interviewing these bloggers about life and family and their wacky selves.

Now we just have to find that motorhome!

Cheers,
Judi

I am hoping to take the kids on a big road trip from Socal up into OR and WA and then finally to Calgary, CA. I have a close friend who moved up there last year and I think it would be so fun. I also have family in WA and friends in Norcal to visit along the way. My husband won't get enough time off to do the whole trip so I may have a couple friends join me along the way. Additionally I plan on doing all sorts of fun stuff around Socal and maybe even a trip to Sequoia National Park. We will see what we can fit in. A small motorhome would be awesome but its not in the cards for me this year.

I'm from SoCal originally so a family trip typically involves all the amusement parks w/the kiddies and reconnecting w/friends in the OC area. My daughter is attending overnight camp at Camp Ocean Pines in Cambria, CA for the first time. It'll be exciting for her!

Sugar: Love that idea. How fun. I love meeting blogger friends.

Shar: That'll be a great trip. I know you'll have a great time with the kiddo's.

We are doing a 2 week road trip from San Diego to Monterey. We'll be doing coast and inland, visiting theme parks, hiking, hanging at the beach and just generally exploring. Then I'll be shipping my teenager off to Australia for a month and he'll be returning with my parents in tow. Oh and let's not forget we are moving from SoCal to Northern California too and my hubby will be returning from deployment. It'll be a busy summer but we are really looking forward to it.

We'll be heading "home" to Santa Cruz at least once. DH is teaching a class up there, so we will be staying in a hotel which is particularly exciting for the kids. Hope to hit Monterey for some fun in addition to visiting friends and family. We will also go see a mission or two since Justin studied them in fourth grade this year. Other than that, I don't know maybe camping + lots of San Diego adventures. Want to do more free museum Tuesdays at Balboa Park this summer.

You will love Monterey!!! That is a dream city for family travel. Don't miss Dennis the Menace park. Perhaps take your big guy sea kayaking. If you want to go a little farther the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk has cheap Tuesday nights. It's really fun.

Where are you moving to? I grew up in San Rafael and lived in Santa Cruz for many years.

Aren't we all so lucky to live in SoCal? Everyone's plans sound like so much fun & adventure!

Tonya - wow a month in Australia for your son? Lucky him! Good luck with your move.

Taking off some weekends, let's see May to Laughlin, June to Vegas and August back to Oregon to pick out land!! woohoo! Yes ladies, I will be an Oregonian sometime in mid 2010 and looking forward to it! Other then these small few trips, we'll be taking advantage of Socal and all it has to offer. Told my dh that we need to hit all the "tourist" spots before we leave lol Any recommedations? Yes, I've lived here all my life but I'm sure there are hidden spots that I've never been ;)

I know we discussed it today, but I hadn't even thought about the possibility of you being up that way once we are there. I hope so, we can catch up and of course if you want to in San Diego too :).

Thanks for all the great tips today on what we can do over the summer up north.

Thank you. My son is going to absolutely love it. We moved to SoCal from Melbourne just over 6 years ago and spend a month there every year, but this year mum & dad offered to fly my son over for a month by himself and they would fly back here with him to visit us too.
