Hello to all! As if life wasn't busy enough, I decided to go back to school last year to study business leadership in a PhD program online. I'd like to connect and share successes. Are there any other Capella U student moms around here??

Hi there everyone! I'm a full time grad student, I work from home, and have two tots... I'd say three with the husband hehehe :) I feel crazy for doing it but it has its great moments as well. I hope to connect with other moms who understand the ups and downs.

I am recently unemployed and am thinking about going back to school for a Masters degree. I have a 2 year old, and am also starting a non-profit and want to have another baby in the next year or so. Am I crazy?

Hi all,

I just stopped by to say that I have a blog that you might be interested in. I started Back2SchoolMoms after experiencing life as a single mom and student who went back to college at age 35. I offer financial aid information, scholarship info, compare online schools to traditional schools, give money saving tips for students and more. I give all my tips and tricks to make your life as a busy student mom run a little easier, as well as articles to inspire you on your back to school journey. Best of luck to all of you in your studies, and I hope that you can stop by soon.

I'm planning a Back To School Event for August/September on my blog Comfort Joy Designs. I'd love to hear from you student moms. I'd like to know what your needs are for back to school. What products would you like to see reviewed or even as a giveaway? Interested in being a guest blogger on the subject of student mom? Please email me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello, Mrs. W,

There are others here who I am sure will put in their two cents, but I am currently back in college after a 21 year absence. I go to University of Phoenix (UoP) online. I have only 3 classes left to my Associate degree. I had transfer credits from the colleges I did attend many years ago.

So far, I can say that it is definitely worth it. I will tell you that you will write more than you have ever written in your life, if you are online. Since there are no classrooms, the conversation is created through threaded posts like a discussion here. Posts have to be substantial (usually 150+ words) and have to be on topic. And you also have weekly assignments and a final project.

Depending on your major, you may or may not have to put in time at a local campus, so keep that in mind. My major (Information Technology-Visual Communications) can be completely done online with software and digital texts.

There is great interaction with the other students and I have even developed friendships with one or two administrative staff and instructors outside of UoP.

I thought the cost of economical, but I have been using a combo of student loans and grants (Pell) to pay for it. I feel I have received my money's worth, but it is another situation, of you getting out of it exactly what you put into it.

What are you thinking of majoring in? There are other online schools and I think you should do due diligence before you decide. But, I think a virtual education is a very good one.

Any other questions, feel free to catch me on my page or send a message.

Take care,

Judith Wilson Burkes
