Hey ladies - I'm thinking of relocating to Washington State or Oregon - looking for any pros or cons you care to share if you know this part of the country. Thanks!

We are a family of 3 who quit our jobs, sold almost everything, and traveled around the U.S. for almost 2 years. Our now 8-yr-old son learned all kinds of things all the time, met all different kinds of people, enjoyed varied and delicious new-to-us foods, and makes comments and refers to his varied experiences with authority because he's been there, seen that, and lived it! Traveling to an area you've never been to before, whether that's 10 miles away or 1000, is awesome and broadens your world. Isn't traveling great? :-)

Julie-
Several of our guests have found that it is easier and cheaper to fed ex their luggage, so that may be something to check into. Good luck!

Good luck, Julie! I don't envy you. Experience just doesn't make that scenario any easier.

The 3 1/2 year old can carry a backpack with the 6 month old's lightweight clothes, a book, and a travel game, right? ;)

Ugh, I fly in a week and I can feel the antcipation building. After 8 years in the airlines industry and almost 4 years flying with my toddler, this is the first time I'm dreading a flight. It's my first time with both boys by myself. Jake's 3 1/2 and josh is 6 months. I flew with them both 2 months ago, but my DH was along. I refuse to check my bags because I can't justify paying $15 each way. I'm lucky to have 2 car seats at my moms in NY already, and I keep clothes for my oldest there all year round. I'm going to try to get everything for myself and my 6 month old in one carry on. Wish me luck!

Hi! Thanks for the invitation. I traveled with my family from a young age, and fortunately for us and our kids, so did my husband. It seemed perfectly natural to go places and take them with us. Now they're great travelers, as a result.

Hello-

I have two small children and travel quit often. We spent the second month of my daughter's life in Crested Butte, CO. Travel seems a bit more of a challenge now that she is 17 months old and climbing everything. We live in Golden, CO, but our business is in Keystone, CO, so we often spend 4 days in the city and 3 days in the mountains. We manage vacation rentals and I am always looking for new ideas to make them as family friendly as possible.

Hi everyone,
Glad to be here. I'm from Massachusetts, so if you travel plans ever take you here, I'm happy to give recommendations. I travel out West to Colorado and Wyoming once or twice a year. Love Europe, have been to Greece, Italy, France and England. Anywhere from Sedona, AZ to Portland, OR!

Hi there,
I thought I already joined this group but.... obviously I didn't (sorry I am blond LOL)
I used to work as an export manager and I was very fortunate to travel all around Europe.
Before the kids were born, my husband and myself travelled to USA inkl. Hawaii, South-Africa and Maledives to mention the far-away-trips.
Europe obviously is wonderful to travel since everything is so close.
Now with the kids, we traveled to Spain but nothing further away.
We are awaiting the chance to visit my cousin in Australia though.

Greetings,
This group was my first stop on twittermoms. Raised our son on the road - traveling fulltime in an RV or something with wheels. He is going to be 18 this week and has been traveling since he was 18 months. He is now getting ready to be out on his own.
We are in Massachusetts right now. The three of us will be working in Salem haunting 13 Ghosts for October then we'll head south. Son is either going to stay here with his girlfriend or come with us to North Carolina to work in the studio with his band in November and then back to the girlfriend. He has yet to decide.
Just want other wanderers to know that he has grown up happy, well adjusted and well educated, with oodles of friends across the country, even though we hardly ever spent more than a few days in one location. He even managed to form a rock band, which I never would have thought possible.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
