And to start us off. Yummy photos...

Man he totally looks like Ewan McGreggor here which only adds to the hot factor. Speaking of smoking hot multi-talented actors. Oh, off-topic, sorry. ;)

Boy, Jen -- do you know how to start a thread! Whew. Those photos are gorgeous. That last photo of the two of them -- look at his face!

Here's something I'm wondering about -- did anyone read the books prior to our beloved Spunk Ransom being cast? I read the books for the first time in August, so I did know the cast, and therefore, Robert Pattinson = Edward Cullen to me. Since I came later to the whole thing, I wasn't aware of all the talk after he was cast; people were actually disappointed with the choice? I cannot IMAGINE that, but again, I read with RP's image as Edward for me, so it's stuck there.

This is my long-winded way of asking those who read prior to the casting -- what were your reactions? Did you have an idea of someone else in the role?

Haha - I aim to please. I love that smoldery look.

I did read the first three before the movie was anything more than an idea. Rob is not who I had in my head for Edward and when they cast him I was skeptical. I was less worried about his looks - I know they can do magic with that - though he did not appeal to me then like he does now, when he was Cedric I did not find him cute, aging has done miracles for him. I was worried about acting ability. Could he BE Edward? I wasn't sure. Now I'm pretty sure. And that's said with crazy fangirl Jen turned off. I could not for the life of me think of any actor young enough to play the roll that could pull it off. I did sort of think that Ewan McGreggor though entirely too old would be a good choice. I did NOT understand the crazy over the top love people had for Gaspard Ulliel. He has never seemed like Edward to me but there were people who were CRAZY for him.

But I think Robert has really done a great job becoming Edward. He is what I see in my head now for Edward. And I think the fact that he is British goes along way to helping him pull of the role. There's something about that culture that just fits Edward some how.

And on a total side note. I highly recommend listening to Never Think with headphones. It's much better when it plays in your ear and you can block out other sounds. You can hear it better. And he sings a lot better than I originally thought he did.

Good morning, Edward! Oh...I mean - good morning, Laura. Just got confused for a moment...thanks for posting the pic! Now I'll post one too. This one is from a few years ago, but the hair was always good.

Laura -- I've been enjoying your posts -- nice to "meet" you!

But, you know... seriously... don't you think these pics would much more effective at jumpstarting one's heart than a defibrillator.

I think I read the first two or three books before I knew who the cast was, and even though I've liked RP since Harry Potter, I was worried he was too prep school to be Edward. But then I saw a few pictures of him w/the Edward hair and make-up, and he is pretty darn close to the Edward I had in mind while dreaming... oh wait, I mean reading....

This is an almost exact replica of the dangerous Edward I imagined:

And this is pretty close to the more laid-back Edward I imagined:

Like Jen, to me he now *is* Edward. Just like Dan Radcliffe *is* Harry Potter. I can't even imagine a different face.

Ashley -- I completely agree -- I could have written this sentence of yours:

Like Jen, to me he now *is* Edward. Just like Dan Radcliffe *is* Harry Potter. I can't even imagine a different face.

And another one -- Elijah Wood IS Frodo. I can't imagine what it would be like for these actors to be able to shake these roles in the future and make us believe that they can actually play another character.

Elijah is Frodo for me too, although he isn't at all what I imagined while reading the book. You know who else I absolutely love and can't even begin to see another face for? Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn. I would fight 1000 orcs for him!
