Served well chilled or on rocks can make a festive holiday aperitif. Or pair it with party horse d'oeuvres like trout or smocked ham.

My husband and I made an early fall trip to the Long Island Wine Country. We got a bottle of white port and ice wine. They were both delicious. The white port had a bit of a bite to it where the ice wine was sweeter and smoother. Both yummy! My favorite port find is Desiree bottled by Roseblum Vineyards. It's a red port with chocolate in it...yummo!

We were in Long Island in August. It's a great place for wine tasting. We bought a white dessert wine at Macari Vineyards. It was delicious. As our pourer told us, you don't need dessert after your meal because the wine is your dessert. After tasting it, my husband said we had to get a bottle. It's called Block E Chardonnay.

Here's their site: Macari Wines

I've never tried white port but I love port, Six Grapes is my favorite. The white port sounds good though, I'll try to find it next time I'm out.

A winery in our town, Livermore, CA makes one of the best white ports I've tasted: White Crane Winery 2004 Chardonnay Port. Great with chocolate at dessert or with blue cheese & pears as an appetizer. I highly recommend it.
