twitter moms: the influential moms network

I know every mom or woman for that matter loves skincare. However it seems like we are always so inundated with all the different types...luxury, natural, mass etc. I will let it be known that I do work for the dermatological skincare division of a major beauty company. I just want to find out what the real woman's experience is with these types of skincare. If you aren't sure what is considered dermatological skincare, here are some brands: Vichy, La Roche-Posay, Lierac, Kelemata, Skin Doctors, Avene. I won't say who I work for because I really am curious to find out what all you wonderful women think. FYI..you can find these brands either in a derm office, CVS or Duane Reade.

Hi Cindy,

Great post. I would have to say that my only experience has been with Lierac and I was very impressed. Even though in my field of work, I am a producer, I work with makeup artists, some skin care and so on, personally I am still very confused! Should I go to CVS and buy on the cheaper end that will work just as well as going to Sephora and getting a high end product. Yikes!!

Hi Barbara,
Great question! The dermo-skincare category is so new to the US, which is why its hard for most consumers to know the difference.Like you, I have been a makeup artist and I've actually worked for some top luxury brands in the past. From my experience using every type of mass brand since I was 13 to working for both luxury and dermo skincare lines, I'd say my favorite are the dermo brands. Luxury brands are nice because you feel very luxurious when using the products. And its mental too! If you know you just spent $150 on a cream, you tell yourself how wonderful it is to justify the purchase.

As for mass brands, I'd stick to just the cleansers and toners since those are very basic. If you are looking for something that is good at anti-aging stick to dermo. Afterall, these are the products derms sell in their office and sold in pharmacies in other countries. It's kind of like the difference between codeine(prescription) pain-killer versus acetaminophen (over the counter).
