I can't find a specific article, but I read somewhere that it was because she had a 10 day scheduling conflict with another movie in the middle of the "Eclipse" schedule. And Summit didn't want to accommodate. Meh.
Ok, I have to admit, when I first heard about fanfiction of any kind, I balked. I couldn't see the draw. I thought it was sacrilege to change stories from the way they were originally written.

She understands most of it, sometimes I have to explain a phrase or terminology. She was really quick to point out where the movie and book differed, though, hehe.
