BECOME A HOST FAMILY AND BUILD A RELATIONSHIP THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME My name is Amy Larison. I am a Local Coordinator/Team Leader for CIEE. I am seeking host families for high school foreign exchange students anywhere in the US. The students are between the ages of 15-18 years old and stay either 5 months or 10 months depending on what they have chosen to do. They have their own spending money for toiletries, school supplies, clothes, school lunches, and entertainment, etc. They also have their own insurance that is provided by CIEE. Host families come in all different types. It can be a family with or without children who are willing to open their hearts and their home to one of these students. There are many exchange students waiting for the phone call to find out whom they will live with and where it will be. Please consider this opportunity to learn about a foreign country and culture as well as help fulfill a lifelong dream of one of these students. The kids are amazing and are so excited to experience life as a teenager in America. They can’t wait to be a part of the high school experience. School is so different here from anything they've ever known. They have the choice to be involved in so many different activities in school including sports, band, clubs, drama, journalism, etc. They are so much fun to have around and see them experience so many new things and/or things that they have only seen in movies. There are so many rewards to being a host family and many of those will last a lifetime. Please contact me to find out more information and also look at our website. **Please send me your city/st and the high school the student would attend. I can connect you with the local coordinator in your area.** --Feel free to pass this on to your colleagues, friends, neighbors, etc. We do offer referral rewards if the referred family does host a student.--

Hello Homeschoolers!
One of our regional directors got involved in the program years ago when she was
homeschooling her three young children because it gave her something flexible to do
from home as she wanted to expose her children to different cultures from around the
world. Little did she know that it would be so educational as well as a life changing
experience!
People asked her, "How does it work if we are homeschooling and the student attends
public school?" Her children responded like this…"They go to school at a different
school and we enjoy one another after they get home. We do our classes and they do
theirs, it’s not so strange!" She never found that it encouraged her children one way or
another to attend public school. It has been great for the exchange students to learn
about the option of homeschooling, because many of the countries we work with do
not allow homeschooling and it is a new concept to them. They are very interested in
learning about the process. Some of our students have gone back and shared their
experience and how great homeschooling is with others in their country.
She has found from experience that hosting a student is the best way to expose your
children and your family to other cultures…What better way than to learn it first hand ?
Her children have learned bits of different languages and have enjoyed getting to know
about several different countries. They have even travelled to several countries to visit
their "adopted" children from around the world. They would have ever guessed that they
would have lifelong connections with families in different countries? It had brought the
world to them!
CIEE works with students that are 15-18 years old that come from 55 different countries
and they come to the U.S. for an educational home stay for either 5 or 10 months. They
live with volunteer host families and attend the public schools in the district where the family resides while they are in country. They come to see what it is like to live in an American family . They come with their own spending money and insurance, so you are providing them with room and meals and some transportation during their stay.

If you would like to find out more or see some of the amazing students we have available to share, you are welcome to contact me and I will connect you with your local coordinator.
We would love to visit with you more about our program. Please consider this opportunity to learn about a foreign country and culture as well as help fulfill a lifelong dream of one of these students.
