I can certainly relate Arlene. I had two surgeries this summer as well. I was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney in June and had my left kidney removed in July. Then had my gallbladder removed Sept 1st.
I had back surgery 13 years ago I know that...
Hi Arlene,
Sorry to hear you had surgery. I hope you're feeling better. What a bummer of a way to spend the summer.
I haven't been on this site for most of the summer either. I just got busy and we've been out of town quite a bit.
LOVE your quilt!...
Welcome Karen! I'm glad you've joined us. What type of quilts do you like to do and what type of quilting business do you have? Looking forward to getting to know you.
Hi everyone, I am new to TwitterMoms. So good to find other quilting moms out there. I love to quilt and have been making quilts for probably 15 years now. I was taught by my Grandma. I have a little quilting business.
Look forward to chatting wit...

I'm happily married and live in Salem, Oregon. I have three grown daughters and one grandson.
I'm a quilter and involved in several quilt related groups, Queen Mum of my Red Hat group and volunteer at a woman's crisis center, the Historic Elsinore Theater and Salem Repertory Theater.
Just stopping by to see your amazing art. Your quilts are just breathtaking. Also wanted to share some of my art with you!
My new music video for my lullaby Child of Sunshine is finished!
You can see it at: http://www.lullaby-link.com
If you enjoy it, please share it with as many people as you can.
All downloads from now through the end of 2009 will be donated to the Children's Miracle Network as they helped us so much when our son was born 6 weeks early.
I grew up sewing with my mom. She's a professional crafter. I didn't start quilting until about 4 years ago. I am totally hooked on Jinny Beyer fabric--especially the borders. I hate using border fabric that doesn't have a mirrored image. I've been to her quilting get-away in Hilton Head a few times. Lately my mom and I have gone to Hershey, PA for the Ouilt Odyssey there. Great teachers! Great fun! Lots of Chocolate! What more can we ask for? I prefer to hand piece and hand quilt. I am working on learning to free motion quilt--just better at hand sewing right now. Absolutely love to applique--usually needle turn.
Arlene--thanks for reaching out to me. I just recently signed up and am still learning my way around. We have quilting and green in common (probably other things as well)! I look forward to getting to know you better.
I am an aspiring quilter. Thats the one great hing about quilting, it seems there is always something new to learn. I just got a book on accidental waves. i'm so excited. most of my time however is spent spinning my alpaca fiber, writing my humor column or working on my books. How did you ever get your husband to go into a quilt store with you? Amazing!
Whenever you get a chance. I know it's a busy weekend... we're having company over for Easter. I'm also doing a block-of-the-month at our local quilt store. It's the second year I've done it. The 12 sample blocks in my pictures are from last year... still haven't finished that one! Happy Easter!
Love the crazy sock creatures!! I may have to make some of those. All of your quilts are beautiful. Unfortunately, I won't be able to upload pics of mine for a little bit. We have a really busy Easter planned and I'm trying to get ready for that. The giraffe is applique and it's a block of the month. There's a bunch of zoo animals. Cute, but I hope I can keep up! I'll be machine appliquing it. I'm just really not liking all the spots on the giraffe right now!!! Hope to keep in touch with you!
I'd love to send you a Cd. . It would be nice to find out if it is a fit for women and children in shelters. If you have an address for me to send to, you can email me at lindakayburk@me.com. By the way, I grew up in Oregon. I was born in Bend, then lived on the coast.
Hi Arlene,
I haven't been on this (Mom's) site for long. I really like it, though! Thanks for sharing how you got into volunteering. I write songs to encourage children and families (www.songofsingingbird.com)and I'd like to share them with families who are struggling. I could probably donate some CD's to shelters? Let me know what you think.
I'd love to hear how you got started volunteering at a women's crisis center. What has your experience been like? I've always thought that would be a wonderful cause to support!
