If your charter school is like mine was, they'll even have organized field trips for groups. But you should have plenty of time for any side trips you want to take because you can count those toward the required hours. Four hours at the science center = 4 hours of science on your daily log. And when I say I lot of work, you have to remember I was teaching 2 kids with two totally different sets of materials. So I was in the school room ALL DAY. For just one child, I'd be surprised if it takes you longer than 3 hours a day. Also, remember that if a lesson says it will take an hour, but it only takes you 15 minutes, you still count that as an hour in your log. You'll never fulfill the time requirements otherwise (and the school told me that so it's not cheating!).

Hi! Saw your ? about charter school and wanted to put in my 2 cents. I used a cyber charter school for 4 years and loved it - but my sons didn't. They require you to put in a certain number of hours a week and stick to their schedule. Since you're already used to a regular school schedule this shouldn't be a big deal. I loved the curriculum (K12), but it was a lot of work for the kids, even in 1st and 2nd grade. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who wants to homeschool but doesn't know where to start, especially if you're not opposed to public funding of education. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck!

Hello, A combination of eating right and working out is key. It gets harder to keep off the weight as we get older so this is when we really need to stick to the program. We need to teach our kids about fitness and eating healthy at young ages so they do not have to deal with issues of being overweight as children and as they get older.
