I like the idea of having a party. My middle child loved his soother and I took his away one day and he went without it cold turkey. I don't remember it being a big issue when we took it away at around 2 years.
When it is affecting the roof of their mouth, If it is starting to cause a noticeable overbite it's time to go regardless of sleepless nights, those only last a few nights....learned the hard way with the orthodontist bill for my oldest.
