I have a 16 (almost 17) yo boy with Downs, and I was hoping he could connect with other teens like him in a group somewhat like this. I tried a Facebook acct, but it was too confusing for him to really understand what was going on. He's great on t...
Ok, Amy's comments have me convicted..which means I'm guilty. Bear with me as I learn how all this works, but I need HELP!
I have some questions:
-HOW do we access the Google Docs, LZ? I click on your link, and it says I can't access, I request a...
Duh! That's a great idea LZ - Following the blogs we comment on in a reader...guess I'm not in a habit of using a reader. Anyone have recommendations on which one works the best for them?
No worries! I find it much easier after I've gone through everyone's blog once. I have a separate category in my reader for Comment Club blogs. Once it's down to 0, I just just watch for new posts. Much easier for me to do it that way, once catchi...
LZ, I realized later that maybe it appeared I might be coming in and trying to change what you started...sorry about that. It was just an idea I had, and I spit it out. Something I def need to learn not to do! I have been looking for a productive ...
Hi there -
Even though we have many members (some are not active, but I have yet to delete anyon from the group yet), the list I created is what you should follow...I think there are 9-10 blogs listed (I will add yours shortly.) I do think it's a ...
I am all for this idea. Maybe we could have some sort of arrangement where we mix it up a little - comment on 5 blogs from our chosen category + 2 or three others just to widen the pool. How do we do it?
I'm still learning the ropes here, but the concept of a blog club to help each other out is great! However, with 30+ members, we all know we couldn't keep up with everyone and the ones on the top of the list will be as far as I will make it...and ...
For all you mom bloggers who love comments! I'll set the group at 15 members to start, and we all need to check in with each other at least once a week and comment.

Thank you so much for your kind words about my blog. I hope that homeschoolers find it useful. I have been busy opening the school year this past two weeks but will be back writing this week :).
Hi, Deb. If you send me your e-mail address, I can send you a one-page write up that has a lot more detail. It doesn't talk that much about the special needs part, but I can give you whatever info you'd like on that. Reading on the backlit screen can also be very beneficial for dislexia & autism challenges.
I only now saw your profile details where you wrote that your youngest child has DS. I spent some very rewarding years working at a school called Beaver Run: Camphill Special Schools where I learned a lot about the joys and challenges of loving kids with Down Syndrome and other special needs.
One of our PicPocket Book titles (kids' picture books) for the iPhone features a young girl with DS. http://bit.ly/D2ouV
I'd so love for you to check it out and would really appreciate it if you might have any ideas for getting the word out esp. to families who have children with DS.
Thanks for the positive comment. I only saw audio books available for the iPhone back in Jan. when I got the idea, and I thought, why not use the ability of the iPhone to display crystal clear images & include the illustrations for picture books. I love encouraging my own kids to read, and to get off the video games, but they love computers, technology, so why not leverage that love and offer parents & their kids an alternative? I'd love it if you could help spread the word by mentioning it on Twitter - I'd be happy to do the same for you if you'd like.
