Hi All! I joined this group a few weeks ago, but didn't notice the intro thread until now. I'm a mom of two biological sons (23 and 20) and a daughter (18) adopted from Romania. My husband and I live in Fairview (near Troutdale/Gresham) and both w...

Kind of open to exploring both right now, I guess. Just know that the Japanese acupuncture he had was really helpful. I'd love the recommendations for Chinese as well, though. We're open to what works at this point....

Wondering whether anyone in this group has a tip for Japanese acupuncture in the Portland area? My husband had one treatment about 3 weeks ago in British Columbia and it was really helpful for some stress and pain issues he's been dealing with. I'...

Wow!! Ya, the exchange rate is not so hot these days is it? We were just up in Osoyoos, BC about two weeks ago to visit some friends who live on the lake on the Washington side, and the exchange rate was a real topic of conversation. I also have a...

Savannah, I'm so sorry! I realized after my last post that I wrote "Suzanne" instead of Savannah! I think it was some crazy subconscious thing because my web designer's name is Suzanne, and I've typed it so many times lately my fingers must have g...

I bet you can get a copy of it from 20/20. I know when I saw their first feature on Romanian orphanages in 1989, I was able to purchase a copy of it for about $20. This particular one that I just saw in November was gripping, and heart wrenching, ...

I agree. The birth abandonment is there, no matter what. It seems to show up in so many children in a sense that they don't deserve good things in their lives... a deep shame that seems to be there, regardless of how well they attach to the adopti...

I agree Suzanne! I got to take a more in-depth look at your site today, and it looks like our focus is different, while our approach may be very similar in terms of the coaching process. The foundation of the coaching process I use is Appreciative...

Hi Savannah! My designation is Certified Parent Coach which is a graduate program that is a joint program between Seattle Pacific University and the Parent Coaching Institute in Bellevue. I took a peek at your website, though, and it looks like mu...

Maritsa was 2 months old when I adopted her, and she is now 18. She has had pretty severe learning disabilities and we've had to really be intense about getting her the educational services and programs that she needed. She's also had some delayed...

Hi Doris, my 4 y/o son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder on Monday... what a week this has been for my husband and I. Although certainly not surprised by the diagnosis... I'm still absorbing. We have an appointment with a local service that will help us with therapies, etc., on Tuesday. I'm anxious to see them and have them help us learn how to deal with this and help our son be all that he can be! He's such a smart little boy! Sweet and loveable. I would love to be able to touch base with you once in a while, if that's okay?

Great to have you here! We've got an incredible group of women connecting on all sorts of topics, so kick back and make yourself at home. Check out the Twittermoms groups (we have something for everybody). The Twittermoms discussions are quite entertaining, too. Or, just get to know your fellow Twittermoms by browsing some Twittermoms profiles or searching for moms who share your interests, add friends, and start twittering with some incredibly smart and interesting moms.

PS: Let your friends know when you're on twittermoms with a click of the Announce Yourself link in your welcome box. If your Twitter friends are interested, they can check out the cool new place you've found!

Again -- if there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.

Find out more about Parent Coaching and the support you can receive at www.parentingwithpeaceofmind.com

I believe that, as parents, we make an implicit vow when a child becomes part of our family to do our best to love and care for that child, and that keeping that vow is critical to the well-being of both parents and children.

I believe there is hope for every parent, every child, and every family situation, regardless of the challenges they may face. There are core strengths in every family that can be tapped into in order to meet their challenges, and focusing on this core can generate the energy necessary for change.

Every parent deserves a safe place to share their struggles and fears, and receive the support and help they need to be at peace with themselves and the decisions they make as a parent.

Parenting With Peace of Mind is that place. It is the place where you will find the support, the knowledge, and ultimately the peace of mind you deserve through a relationship with a coach who has only your best interest at heart.
