Although (thank the good Lord) I have not witnessed a parent abusing a child physically, I have witnessed a mother abusing her child verbally. I was in a department store and saw the most beautiful mother with her daughter who was equally beautifu...

I never thought I would be an actual witness to the beating of a child but my day came, and I did something about it. Last Saturday afternoon (March 7) at a Wal-Mart parking lot, as I was settling into my car with my kids after buying a few "must-...
A Shadow of the Wind, by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. Could not put it down and I don't think I've read a book like that since then. Fiction set in Barcelona, awesome story. Makes you want to save to go visit that wonderful city.
Right now I'm reading The ...
So glad your experiences have been so good! I think it's important for kids to have gt and non-gt peers, so it sounds like you've got the best of both worlds. I wish our school had offered something like the program you're describing.
My son Alex (10) has been in the local GT program for 3 years now, he is in 4th grade. He was tested after 1st grade and entered the program in 2nd grade. He only attends on Wednesdays. At first my husband and I were scared of what it would mean. ...

Hi
I love the image you have used. I can just imagine myself on that beach - particularly as it snowed in the UK today. Living with teenagers is great,a biography of what life can be like as your "children" fight for independence. A shadow of the wind looks interesting so on my next free day...
Thanks for the info. I was drawn to your post because I have a little Alex that is in a gifted program. Actually, he is my 6 year old grandson and his behavior is very similar to your Alex. He constantly talks in class and asks a million questions. His Mom says that she can't get through a homework assignment with Alex because he gets sidetracked and goes off on his own little tangent quoting facts and figures that he learned in class which has nothing to do with the homework assignment at hand. God bless your little angel Alex and God bless mine :)
