To Jacob
Sweet little boy with airplane wings,
You flew up to heaven where the angels sing.
Far up in the sky where your “cookie” shines bright,
We feel you there in the moons soft glowing light.
You are grinning in heaven riding a special John Deere tractor,
But oh to hold you again, to hear your beautiful laughter.
We long to see you, to touch you, to love you once more,
To give nose tickles, kisses, and squeezes galore.
Airplanes, “kunk-kunks”, and “Gone Deere” tractors,
These were some of your favorite things.
A toy was never good enough,
You always wanted to have the real thing.
You must have watched the movie Cars at least 100 times,
Your “gankies” never far from your sight.
You had such a tender loving heart,
Such a love for life.
Jacob, we did not know the angels
Would call your name that day.
We would have held you longer in our arms,
Instead of all that play.
There is nothing you could have done different,
In this life you were loved so much.
It is so painful to be apart from you,
Our hearts you forever touched.
We know you had to leave us,
So gone away you flew,
And know that every day for the rest of our lives,
We will be missing you.
We cuddle with your “gankie” every night,
Longing to be close to you again.
Knowing that one sweet day you will take our hand,
And lead us to Heaven’s land.
We miss you Jakey.
