I worked in child care for 29 years and am the daughter of a children's dentist. It is not a good idea to encourage children to suck their thumb. It usually really messes up their teeth. Try lots of other ways for the child to self confort-----

- I have worked in Early Childhood Education for close to 30 years. Currently I am advocating for high quality child care through the Child Care Aware Parent Network. I have one son who will graduate from Medical School soon. I was a single parent living on a child care teachers low wages when he was two years old. So...I am very proud of him and my work in Early Childhood.

- Checked out the website and it looks great. Do you know we have included you in the further information section of our next book? It is about parenting newborns and it is in the chapter on Child Care. Should be out in August.
