Where are autism's everyday experts?

I think we’re doing a fairly terrible job a lot of the time with just one kid with autism. Screeching, clutter, insisting on walking around half-dressed, our son has a lot of behaviors we could do without. But where are the experts to tell us how to cope with some of the common traits of autism?

Do you have a Twitter account? What do you tweet about?

I tweet about my fight with breast cancer and becoming a mom for the first time. I have been trying to find more people to follow me so that I can spread awareness:

Jill, thank you SO much for mentioning Hootsuite. It has so many features and I'm a little slow in learning...but I can tell it's going to be very helpful. I would RT but I can't figure out how. If you want to trade follows, I'm @ellenZelwell:-) Thanks again!

Thanks for info about the book. I'll look it up. As I mentioned in the comment I left, I publish children's picture books to the iPhone - we have one title that is a story about a young girl who has Down Syndrome. I'd like to include a story about a child with autism at some point, so I always have my eyes open.

Just left a comment on your blog and mentioned you in Tweets. I found you on Please Retweet This. Hope it helps!
I found your blog post really interesting - I'd like to find out more about the book. Is it a book for kids, YA, or adult? I am intrigued by the rhyming.

I read your blog post about autism and vaccines. I'm not the most knowledgeable on autism in general, but I'm interested because I have a nephew who was diagnosed at 18mo. He's now 9 and a miracle, as his doctors have said he's the first child they've ever seen "recover" from autism. I'm sure there may be challenges for them in future, but he was originally a fairly severe case and he's now in mainstream classes and doing well. (My brother and his other son have Asperger's, so there's definitely a genetic link there.)

I noticed in your comment on Twitter This Please that Matt Lauer is doing a special. Has that already run or is it on tonight? I'd like to check it out. I did appreciate what you had to say in your post. I think, for me, the real question about laying the blame for autism on vaccines so strenuously comes when a child who has NOT been vaccinated ends up with autism...how do vaccine naysayers explain that?
