I knew that something was changing, but I didn’t want to acknowledge it. Then, I noticed that the phone stopped ringing. Friends stopped calling to chit chat or extend an invitation to the pool. Last week, I saw a photo of Obama dropping off his girls at school before he got on a plane for a meeting in the Oval Office.

And, this was not an aberration. The week before, it was a picture of the Obamas on their way to parent-teacher conferences before he met with his Economic Advisory team to work on solving the country’s economic crisis.

The message is unmistakable: work/family balance takes top priority in the Obama household.
