A little about yourself...

I'm have 2 kids - Caitlin 8 and Brandon 5. I live in Chapel Hill, NC. I co-founded of a boutique (read small) creative services firm - Calliope -http://www.calliopepublishing.com. It used to be at-home but we got bigger so we got an office. I wrote a book a few years ago about place to eat and things to do on "date night" called "Evenings for Two in the Triangle." Now I update it along with food and wine posts at http://www.eveningsfortwo.com.

Thank you so much to all you fabulous moms who responded to our survey about what kinds of wine you'd like to taste at our monthly Wine Tasting Twitter Party. Without further ado here's what you said:

Almost 60 percent of you want us to break it up about 50/50 between red and white wines.

Sex In A Glass! Don't miss this month's TM Wine Tasting Party.

This month we're going to be tasting a Pinot Noir from California. You might remember Pinot Noir as the much rhapsodized wine from the 2004 Sideways. The wine is highly romanticized because when done well it is highly complex with subtle flavors reflective of the growing region. However, it is also known as being fickle and hard to work with as the fruit is highly susceptible to disease while on the vine and the flavor varies a lot from year to year.

Drink Pink and Chill Out on Friday #tmwc

I love the bottle for this month's #tmwc wine tasting – the Leverano Rosato is one of my summer favorites. It's glorious hue may remind you of white zin, but don't even think about them in the same sentence. This dry rose (rhymes with chardonnay but I can't find that accent mark on the keyboard) is crisp, a little acidic and absolutely refreshing. Drink it chilled like you would a white wine.

#TMWC - Get Ready for Friday with Food Pairings for Gruner Veltliner

Hope you're all looking forward to this month's wine tasting as much as I am. If you haven't joined us for one yet, you should really check it out. It always puts me in a good mood and gets me laughing. This month's wine is a Gruner Veltliner (GV), a grape varietal that is mostly grown in Austria. Triangle TRACKS, located online at www.triangletracks.com, is an acronym for "Tools, Resources and Activities for Carolina Kids." As a local mom of three and a former magazine editor, I've come across lots of great resources for kids in the Triangle region, so I decided to put them all on ONE website for local families to use. Triangle TRACKS is also a social networking site for parents, so those who join can post blogs, forums, calendar events and other information for other parents to see. I also issue a free, monthly e-newsletter filled with children’s events and resources planned for that month. Let me know if you’d like to subscribe.
