Oh, the action around here!

I know I am way behind in responding to this, but I just had to. Your story makes me tear up. I feel so sad for your little one. This kind of stuff happens to us all the time. Our son has Autism and makes a lot of noise! And about a year and a hal...

I'd be extremely upset, and would've faced that parent directly. Explaining that I don't approve of other parents shouting at MY child, that I wouldnt do that to HER children. I would STILL confront her even today. There's no way I'd let anyone g...

First of all, my sympathies to you and your partner. This is not acceptable behaviour and is therefore intolerable. One of the things that should be done is a confrontation of the neighbour. Find out what happened from her perspective and then br...

Wow, that's a tough situation. Every family behaves differently and has different views on discipline. However, as your partner was in attendance, it is not her place to provide discipline. It is very important for anyone leaving their children i...

What sane person tells a child (and someone else's for that matter) to Shut Up? Please, please speak to her. You and your partner sound like such nice people who don't want to be confrontational, but at least start the conversation by asking her w...

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you and your son. I would never let anyone talk to my son like that. I would have told her how and felt and left immediately. I would tell her I didn't appreciate the way she spoke to him, and I wouldn't speak to...

Nope unacceptable... and I've dealt with it on a personal basis with a family member who screamed at my son and then told me "I wasn't raising my child right because I wasn't disciplining him the way he would". Unfortunately, I don't know that th...

This was unfortunate not only for you but for your son. He's 3, that had to be tramatic for him let alone even begin to understand what and why this just happened. She was totally out of line. She should have said it to him in more calm voice, if ...

While it is possible that the yelling woman has a different parenting style that includes yelling, I wonder if something more is wrong. It seems odd that an adult, at a party and in the company of many other adults, did not control herself better....

I'm so sorry that this happened to you! I have no problem with other parents correct my children *appropriately* if they see them doing something that is hurting another child. I've personally told other kids to stop hitting my kids or being mean ...

Unfortunately, this type of thing happens to my six-year-old all the time. He is usually pretty well behaved, but even when he does something he shouldn't, I don't feel he deserves to be screamed at by any out-of-control adult including me. My son...

You neighbor was way out of line. She embarrassed your son and made a complete ass out of herself. I would let this one go. In the future, if you see her stepping into your or your partners "parenting role" I would tell her firmly and politely tha...

I'm sorry this happened. Adults are the most influential role models for children. Can you imagine how your son must 'see' this woman ( a grown up who is suppose to protect children)? Scary, mean and controlling. Children need guidance and redirec...

Hi Lucile, As we say in the south, Bless your heart! That person's behavior was completely inappropriate. I'm curious if you know this person well and expect to have your child play with her child/chidlren in the future? If so, then I believe it ...

Great to have you here! We've got an incredible group of women connecting on all sorts of topics, so kick back and make yourself at home. Check out the Twittermoms groups (we have something for everybody). The Twittermoms discussions are quite entertaining, too. Or, just get to know your fellow Twittermoms by browsing some Twittermoms profiles or searching for moms who share your interests, add friends, and start twittering with some incredibly smart and interesting moms.

PS: Let your friends know when you're on twittermoms with a click of the Announce Yourself link in your welcome box. If your Twitter friends are interested, they can check out the cool new place you've found!

Again -- if there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.

A little about yourself...
Hi / Bonjour,

I am a French mum living in London.

My areas of interests are:
- social network (in particular those with a community or local focus or with somthing different compare to the big ones)
- education / learning
- multilingualism
- nature, countryside
- French language, francophonie
- music (chanson francaise, world music, gypsi music)
- circus and theatre de rue (best translation I can think of: "street performing art")

Here are a few of my favourite things2.0 at the moment (in no specific order):
- www.peuplade.com - unfortunatelly this is only available in French as far as I am aware, I have been looking for a similar social network in English for months, but haven't come across anything close to it yet. If you know something similar, PLEASE share it with me
- www.bigtent.com
- Ning (I created a private group for my family last year)
- School of everything

I'd like to be in touch with similar minded people to share our thoughts.

If you are part of a bilingual / multilingual family, you might be interested by the group I have created on BigTent. Check it out.
