- I am a new Momma with a delightful son. When I am not getting spit up or sweet potato on me, I like to write, cook, read, garden and take pictures. When I am getting sweet potato on me, I love to read Goodnight Moon fifteen times in a row and making tupperware towers to be knocked down. (It's a great life) I write about our family misadventures in my blog - come visit us!

i love my 50mm! I shoot canon so its the 1.4mm but its a great lens, my other favorite, especially if I can shoot outside is my 85mm 1.2L great lens, with amazing clarity!

I'm new to this too, and a canon user, but here's what I've found: I have the 50 mm 1.8 and the reason it is so popular is the bang you get for your buck. It's RIDICULOUSLY inexpensive (in the 100-150 range), and it gives good quality ...

Good for you for still using film! I love my old film slr, but when I had my son I was flying through the film and it was too expensive to develop it all. We still go back and forth, but definitely use the digital more.

I have an Olympus OM1 (yes, I know, it's a museum piece :) & while I have had a few different lenses for this camera, I prefer the 50mm too. It just seems like the overall quality of the shots is better for most subjects. I love SLRs....
